The new skate. entered Early Access on September 16, 2025. It is a free-to-play, online-only skateboarding game set in San Vansterdam, available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S. The September launch is now in the past; EA says Android and iOS versions are planned, but has not announced a date.
When did the new Skate game come out?
EA and developer Full Circle launched skate. in Early Access on September 16, 2025. EA’s launch-date announcement gave the date and confirmed the initial platforms. This is a retrospective date, not an upcoming September release.

Is skate. free to play?
Yes. The base game is a free download. Optional cosmetic purchases are separate: EA says players can unlock cosmetics through progression or buy premium cosmetic items with San Van Bucks. Paying for cosmetics is not required to play the base game.
To download it, use the relevant platform store: Steam, Epic Games Store, or the EA app on PC; PlayStation Store on PS4 or PS5; or Microsoft Store on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. EA’s download page says an EA account and persistent internet connection are required. Platform account or subscription conditions may also depend on where and how you play.

Which platforms can you play skate. on?
EA announced Early Access for both console generations, plus PC through three storefronts. It also announced cross-platform play and cross-progression, subject to conditions and restrictions.

Can you play skate. offline?
No. EA says skate. has no offline mode and requires a persistent online connection. It is built around the multiplayer skateboarding sandbox of San Vansterdam, rather than an offline single-player campaign.
What does Early Access mean for skate.?
Early Access means the game is available while development continues. EA’s FAQ cautions: “For us, Early Access is just the beginning. It means we’re ready to open the doors to San Vansterdam to the world, but there will be bugs and issues.” Players should expect ongoing iteration and possible problems rather than treat the launch version as a finished release.

What is San Vansterdam?
San Vansterdam is the game’s skateboarding setting. EA’s September 16, 2025 launch announcement describes it as a city with four distinct neighborhoods, built as a place for players to skate and explore together.
