Skate.’s first skate.Pass and Helldivers 2’s Warbonds share a basic structure: play, earn an in-game currency, then choose rewards to unlock from a catalogue. But they are not the same kind of pass. Skate.Pass is tied to a season and has free and paid tracks; a Helldivers 2 Warbond is purchased with Super Credits and, once acquired, does not expire.
How was skate.Pass like a Helldivers 2 Warbond?
Both systems put rewards in a catalogue and let players make progress through gameplay. In skate.’s Season 1, players completed tasks to earn Tix and chose which rewards to unlock. In Helldivers 2, players spend Medals earned from missions and orders to unlock items in a Warbond.
That is the useful comparison: both turn play into catalogue progression, rather than simply handing out every reward at once. The currencies and access rules, however, are different.
How skate.’s first season pass worked
Standard and Premium tracks
Electronic Arts’ Season 1 description offered a Standard track and a purchasable Premium track. EA listed over 30 rewards on Standard, with Premium adding over 40 more rewards and cosmetics. Players earned Tix by completing tasks and selected rewards to unlock. The base game and updates were required to access pass content. EA’s Season 1 skate.Pass page

How Helldivers 2 Warbonds work
Buying a catalogue is separate from unlocking its items
Players use Super Credits to acquire a Warbond, then use Medals earned through missions and orders to unlock its contents. A Warbond can include weapons, armor, capes, emotes, stratagems, utilities, and other items. PlayStation’s Warbonds overview and official guide explain the system.

Purchased Warbonds do not expire
PlayStation states that Warbonds are not time-limited after purchase, so players can work through their pages at their own pace. That is a major distinction from a seasonal pass: a Warbond catalogue remains available to its owner rather than being defined by a season’s end date. PlayStation’s Warbonds description

Skate.Pass has changed since its first season
Do not use Season 1’s reward counts as a guide to the current pass. In a November 10, 2025 development update, EA said future seasons would be less grindy, would move toward around 90 tiers, and would award 500 San Van Bucks across the combined Standard and Premium tracks. EA / Full Circle development update
EA’s Season 5 page describes a 110-tier pass: 37 Standard tiers and 73 Premium tiers, including bonus pages. It lists 33 free cosmetic rewards and four San Van Bucks tiers on Standard, plus 60 more cosmetic rewards and 13 additional San Van Bucks tiers on Premium. Standard is free; Premium costs 1,000 San Van Bucks, while Premium+ costs 2,000 San Van Bucks and provides 4,000 Tix to start unlocking items. These are Season 5 details, not a permanent specification for future seasons. EA’s Season 5 page

Season 1 had a free Standard track, but Premium required an in-game purchase. The current Season 5 page likewise lists a free Standard track alongside paid Premium and Premium+ options. Free access to Standard does not mean every pass reward is free.
