The latest listed main release is Beta 2.0.0 (September 1, 2025), and its intended loader is Forge 47.4.0. Install that exact combination in a separate instance, and use a server package built from the same release rather than uploading your ordinary client folder.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
Important: the project is in public beta. Only “Chapter 1: The Sky” is presented as available for beta testing; content beyond it is still early development, and exploring the Overworld, Nether or Void dimensions may soft-lock a world. Back up saves, test on a fresh world and treat later chapters as experimental.

What Skyrealm: Descent is
Skyrealm: Descent is an RPG adventure pack by HazardousDaniel built around a downward journey. Its premise takes the player from the heights of the clouds toward increasingly dangerous depths while investigating a corrupted Overworld. The pack adds or overhauls four dimensions and changes enough core progression that it should be treated as its own game mode, not as a small collection of convenience mods.
The current release target is:
| Component | Current target | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft | 1.20.1 | Official project listing target |
| Mod loader | Forge | Use Forge 47.4.0 for the Beta 2.0.0 instance |
| Pack release | Skyrealm: Descent Beta 2.0.0 | Latest listed main file, released September 1, 2025 |
| Mods in the selected pack file | 82 | File-content count; not a memory recommendation |
Its listed features include a new Skyrealm dimension, flying and rideable creatures, copper tools, a kiln, a shaped blast furnace, altered Overworld generation, dangerous cave biomes and a different route to the Nether. Nether access uses bedrock rifts instead of ordinary Nether portals.

Understand the beta before you install
The beta warning affects both solo and multiplayer play. The creator identifies Chapter 1: The Sky as the currently playable beta chapter; later chapters are planned or developing. The official listing warns that exploring the Overworld, Nether and Void dimensions can lead to soft-locking. A soft lock can leave a character or progression path unusable without a backup, even if the game itself still launches.
- Make a dated copy of the instance’s
savesdirectory before entering a new dimension. - Keep a second backup outside the Minecraft directory so a damaged save is not overwritten.
- Do not use a valuable long-running survival world as your first test.
- Expect recipes, world generation and progression to change between beta releases.
- Tell every server player that later chapters are unfinished before they join.
Because world-generation changes are involved, starting a new world after an update is often safer than continuing an old one. If you do migrate a save, preserve the original folder and test the copy first.

Client requirements and a clean installation
What you need
- Minecraft Java Edition capable of launching version 1.20.1.
- A launcher that can import or install a modpack while preserving its manifest, overrides and dependency list.
- The Skyrealm: Descent Beta 2.0.0 release.
- Forge 47.4.0 for that instance.
- Enough free disk space for the 82-mod pack, generated dimensions, logs and backups.
The pack’s 82-mod count describes the contents of the selected release file. It does not establish a minimum RAM figure. Memory needs depend on Java, render distance, loaded chunks, world generation and what else is running on the computer.
Install in an isolated instance
- Open your launcher’s modpack or custom-instance workflow and create a new instance dedicated to Skyrealm: Descent.
- Set the Minecraft version to 1.20.1.
- Select the Forge loader and choose 47.4.0, rather than allowing the launcher to substitute a different Forge build.
- Import or install the Beta 2.0.0 pack. Let the launcher apply its manifest, overrides, configurations and dependencies.
- Give the instance its own game directory. Do not point it at a vanilla installation or another modpack’s saves folder.
- Launch once with no shaders, custom resource packs or extra mods. This first run confirms that the base pack works before you add optional changes.
Keep your vanilla and other modpack worlds outside this instance. A shared saves folder makes it easy to open a world with the wrong mods, which can remove blocks, entities or data when the game saves.
First-launch checks
On the first launch, confirm that the title screen identifies the expected Minecraft and Forge versions, then open the Mods screen and check that the pack loads without a missing-dependency message. Create a temporary world, walk around for several minutes and close the game normally. A clean shutdown gives the launcher and Forge a chance to finish writing configuration files.
If the launcher crashes before the title screen, remove optional shaders and resource packs, verify the Java runtime selected by the launcher, and compare the instance’s Forge version with 47.4.0. Do not add individual replacement mods until the unmodified pack starts successfully.
How to set up a dedicated Skyrealm: Descent server
A dedicated server must match the clients at three levels: Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47.4.0 and the exact Skyrealm: Descent release. A server that merely has “some Forge mods” is not compatible. The project’s installation guidance specifically cautions against uploading the ordinary client folder blindly: client-only files and a server package are not interchangeable.
Use a matching server package
- Obtain or generate a server package explicitly identified as Skyrealm: Descent Beta 2.0.0, Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge 47.4.0.
- Check that the package contains its server-side manifest, overrides, configuration files and dependencies. Do not assume copying the launcher’s client directory creates a valid server.
- Extract the package into a new server directory with a name that includes the release, such as
skyrealm-descent-beta-2.0.0. - Run the supplied Forge server start script or the documented Forge server command once. The first run normally creates configuration files and may stop because the Minecraft EULA has not been accepted.
- Read the log for missing libraries, rejected Java versions, failed mixins or absent files. Fix those errors before inviting players.
- Where required, set
eula=trueineula.txtafter reviewing the Minecraft EULA, then start the server again. - Stop the server with its console
stopcommand. Avoid killing the process while it is generating a world or writing region files. - Before changing gameplay settings, create a fresh test world and connect with one client using the same pack release and loader.
Keep client and server files aligned
| Check | Client | Server | What a mismatch causes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minecraft version | 1.20.1 | 1.20.1 | Connection rejection or registry errors |
| Forge loader | 47.4.0 | 47.4.0 | Loader or mod-list incompatibility |
| Pack release | Beta 2.0.0 | Beta 2.0.0 | Missing mods, changed registries or broken recipes |
| Overrides and configs | Pack-provided files | Matching server files | Different world rules, startup failures or unexpected progression |
Give players the same launcher installation instructions you used. If someone reports a missing-mod or connection error, first compare the three version values above, then compare the mod list and configuration files. Do not solve a mismatch by deleting random mods from one side; that can make the registry state less compatible.

- The classic UNO card game builds fun on game night with a Minecraft theme.
- UNO Minecraft features a deck and storage tin decorated with graphics from the popular video game.
- Players match colors and numbers to the card on top of the discard pile as in the classic game.
- The Creeper card unique to this deck forces other players to draw 3 cards.
- Makes a great gift for kid, teen, adult and family game nights with 2 to 10 players ages 7 years and older, especially Minecraft and video game fans.
Network and operational basics
- Set a distinct server directory and restrict file permissions to the account that runs Minecraft.
- Allow the server’s Java process through the host firewall and forward the configured game port only when remote players need access.
- Use a whitelist for a private group and grant operator status sparingly.
- Keep the server console visible during the first world generation so you can catch a failed dimension or datapack load.
- Schedule backups while the server is stopped or use a provider’s snapshot system that is designed for Minecraft saves.
World generation can be CPU-intensive, especially when players spread out and trigger new terrain or dimension files. A low player count does not guarantee low load if several players explore separate areas at once.
RAM, CPU and storage planning
No defensible minimum RAM number is published for this pack. The 82-mod count cannot be converted into a universal requirement because memory use changes with player count, simulation distance, view distance, generated chunks, Java overhead and other services on the same machine.
Choose resources by workload
| Workload factor | Why it matters | What to monitor |
|---|---|---|
| Player count | Each active player adds entities, chunk tickets and network work | Tick time and memory after everyone joins |
| Exploration | New terrain and dimension generation create CPU, disk and memory spikes | Generation time, CPU saturation and region-file growth |
| View and simulation distance | Higher values keep more chunks active | Server TPS, tick duration and client stutter |
| Shared machine | Backups, databases or other game servers compete for resources | System-wide RAM, CPU and disk I/O |
| Backups and logs | Snapshots and large logs consume storage over time | Free disk space and backup retention |
Start with conservative view and simulation distances, then raise them only after a test group explores the Skyrealm and begins generating new terrain. Watch the server log and operating-system metrics during that test. If ticks fall behind, reduce active distances, limit simultaneous exploration and investigate any repeating error before simply assigning more memory.
Allocate enough memory for the Java process and leave headroom for the operating system and file cache. Giving Java nearly all available RAM can make the machine less stable and can worsen pauses when the garbage collector runs. The correct amount is the smallest allocation that remains stable under your real player and exploration load.

One-click hosting: what is actually available
Managed hosts can remove the manual Forge and file-management work, but “one click” does not remove compatibility checks. Confirm that the host supports Beta 2.0.0, Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge 47.4.0 before paying or moving a world. A catalogue entry for an older pack version is not automatically suitable.

Questions to ask a host
- Is the selectable installation specifically Beta 2.0.0, or does it install another release?
- Does the service use Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge 47.4.0?
- Can you upload a matching server package and restore a complete world backup?
- Where are backups stored, how often are they made, and how long are they retained?
- What geographic locations are available, and is the advertised support available at all hours?
- Can you change Java flags, view distance, simulation distance and server properties?
- What happens if the pack updates or a beta release breaks an existing save?
Self-hosting offers direct control over files, Java flags, backups and update timing, but you must handle networking, monitoring, security and recovery. Managed hosting trades some control for a control panel, automated backups and support. Compare setup effort, file access, backup quality, monitoring, location, support, recurring price and verified support for the exact release—not just the amount of RAM.

Skyrealm: Descent’s progression begins in the Skyrealm and moves downward through altered environments. The narrative and dimensional route are part of the pack’s design, so standard vanilla assumptions can be misleading.
Early systems you will encounter
- Skyrealm: the opening dimension and the setting for Chapter 1: The Sky.
- Flying and rideable creatures: movement and exploration options that change how you approach vertical terrain.
- Copper tools: an additional tool tier or progression element beyond the vanilla path.
- Kiln: a new processing block used by the pack’s altered crafting progression.
- Shaped blast furnace: a redesigned processing route rather than a simple vanilla replacement.
- Changed Overworld generation: familiar terrain and cave expectations may not apply.
- Dangerous cave biomes: underground exploration carries risks beyond ordinary hostile mobs.
- Bedrock rifts: the pack’s route into the Nether, replacing standard Nether portals.
Read the pack’s in-game guidance and recipe viewer carefully before assuming that a vanilla recipe works. When a progression block appears unavailable, check its shape, required materials and intended chapter rather than trying to substitute a vanilla workstation.

Troubleshooting common failures
The launcher crashes before the main menu
- Confirm the instance is Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.0.
- Disable shaders, custom resource packs and manually added mods.
- Check the latest crash report for a missing dependency or mixin failure.
- Reinstall the unmodified Beta 2.0.0 manifest if files were edited or deleted.
- Ensure the launcher’s Java runtime is supported for the selected Minecraft and Forge combination.
The server stops during startup
- Read the first error in the server log, not only the final “stopped” line.
- Verify that the server package is a server build for Beta 2.0.0 rather than a copied client directory.
- Check that Forge 47.4.0 and all required libraries are present.
- Accept the EULA when the server has generated
eula.txt. - Remove only files you can identify as optional customizations; do not delete unknown configuration or dependency files.
Players receive missing-mod or registry errors
Compare Minecraft, Forge and pack release values on both sides. Then compare the mod list, overrides and configuration files. A player who installed a newer or older release can appear to have the right pack name while still having incompatible registries.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The world soft-locks or a dimension will not load
Stop using the affected save and restore the most recent backup. Do not repeatedly enter the same dimension while hoping a later restart will fix it. The project’s beta warning specifically identifies content beyond Chapter 1 and exploration of the Overworld, Nether and Void dimensions as potential soft-lock areas. Report the release, dimension, log error and reproduction steps to the project maintainers if you choose to continue testing.
The server lags when players explore
- Temporarily lower view and simulation distances.
- Ask players to explore in a smaller group instead of generating distant regions simultaneously.
- Check CPU, memory, disk I/O and tick duration while the lag occurs.
- Ensure backups or antivirus scans are not competing with region-file writes.
- Do not assume that adding RAM fixes a CPU-bound world-generation spike.
Updating without losing a world
- Read the new release notes and identify whether it changes world generation, dimensions, recipes or required Forge versions.
- Stop the server cleanly and copy the entire world directory, server configuration and pack manifest to a dated backup location.
- Install the new pack in a separate test directory rather than overwriting the working instance.
- Load the backup copy, not the live world, and check startup, recipes, dimensions and player inventories.
- Have every client update to the same release before reconnecting.
- Keep the previous server directory until the new version has survived a complete backup cycle and a multiplayer test.
For a beta pack, a parallel installation is safer than an in-place update. If the new build changes registries or dimensions, retaining the old directory gives you a practical rollback path.
Quick Recap
Quick pre-flight checklist
- Minecraft Java Edition is set to 1.20.1.
