The first Slay the Spire 2 gameplay trailer was announced by developer Mega Crit on December 12, 2024, after debuting earlier that day at The Game Awards. It was distinct from the later Early Access trailer, announced in February 2026 ahead of the game’s March 5, 2026 Steam Early Access launch.
When did the first Slay the Spire 2 gameplay trailer come out?
Mega Crit announced the first gameplay reveal on December 12, 2024, in a post titled “Slay the Spire 2’s First Gameplay Trailer is Here!”. The studio said it had been shown earlier that day at The Game Awards and linked the full trailer.
The reveal introduced a newly evolved Spire and highlighted new and returning characters, along with new cards, relics, and potions. It was the first gameplay trailer announcement, not the game’s launch trailer.
How the first reveal differs from the Early Access trailer
Mega Crit announced a separate Slay the Spire 2 Early Access trailer on February 19, 2026, alongside the news that the game would arrive on March 5. The studio then confirmed on March 5 that the game was available in Steam Early Access.

What Slay the Spire 2 is now
Slay the Spire 2 is Mega Crit’s sequel to its roguelike deckbuilder. Official descriptions point to new and returning characters, cards, relics, potions, enemies, environments, and lore. The sequel also supports co-op play for up to four players, as well as solo play, according to Mega Crit and the Steam listing.

Steam lists the game as an Early Access title released March 5, 2026. Its listing says Early Access games are incomplete and may change. Mega Crit’s stated plans include additional gameplay content, a true ending, game modes, balance improvements, bug fixes, hardware compatibility, visual effects, and languages; these are plans, not confirmation that every item has shipped.
