How progression and unlocks work
Sleeping Dogs tracks Face, Triad, and Cop XP separately. They reward different activities and unlock different benefits, so advancing one track does not replace working on the others.
- Face XP: Earned through favors and impressive actions. Higher Face levels improve merchant access and discounts, unlock vehicles and clothing, and provide buffs and Face-meter combat abilities.
- Triad XP: Earned in combat, including through counters, headshots, and finishing moves. Triad levels award points for offensive and defensive combat upgrades.
- Cop XP: Earned through cases and missions. Collateral harm to civilians, police, or property lowers the award, so controlled play helps your Cop progression.
For an unlock-focused route, alternate story missions and police cases with favors instead of relying on the main story alone. United Front Games producer Dan Sochan recommended police cases and citizen favors as a way to earn money and Face.

Which collectibles should you prioritize?

Choose by the reward you need
- Want more combat options? Return jade statues to Sifu Kwok as soon as you can.
- Need to survive longer? Prioritize health shrines; their health increase is permanent.
- Looking for money or useful items? Open lock boxes as you move through areas, but treat the cash as variable rather than guaranteed.
How to make money without relying on exploits
The most grounded low-risk approach is to complete citizen favors and police cases, then collect lock boxes encountered along the way. Sochan’s developer-authored advice was to take time for secondary content: “The best way to gain money and Face is to do some of the secondary content. Hong Kong is packed with side content – take the time out to solve a police case or perform favours for many of the city’s citizens.” — Dan Sochan, producer at United Front Games, 2012.
Prima Games also says missions and Sun On Yee side jobs pay money, while lock boxes add varying amounts and sometimes clothing. No guaranteed cash-per-minute rate or repeatable money exploit is established by these sources, so a reliable route is to combine normal progression with side content rather than chase a promised shortcut.

Feral Interactive’s FAQ says the Definitive Edition includes the base game and the listed DLC packs. Most pack content is enabled by default and can appear during the main story. Nightmare in North Point and Year of the Snake are separate stories launched from the main menu; the FAQ also lists Zodiac Tournament among the included content.
The official Xbox and PlayStation listings identify Xbox One and PS4 versions and describe the edition as including all 24 previously available DLC extensions. Those are 2014 store-listing claims, not a guarantee of current stock or format. Confirm the specific current listing for your platform before buying.
