Its Windows 8.1 entry should not be read as confirmation that the Steam client currently supports Windows 8.1: Steam says its client supports Windows 10 and later starting January 1, 2024. Check your operating system as well as the game requirements.

Verify the game files if you use Steam
A Steam community discussion about a DLL-loading problem suggested verifying the game files. This is a player suggestion, not a CI Games-confirmed fix, but it is a reasonable diagnostic step before reinstalling.

- Open your Steam Library and right-click Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2.
- Select Properties, then Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files and let the check finish.
- Launch the game again and note whether the same crash occurs.
If your Steam interface uses different wording, look in the game’s Properties for the installed-file verification option.
Change one thing at a time

Match the next step to the crash
It crashes at startup or while loading
Note whether the game closes immediately, gets as far as a menu, or fails while loading. If an error appears, copy its exact wording. If you play through Steam, file verification is a sensible early check for damaged or missing game files; it is not a guaranteed remedy.
It crashes at the start of a mission
Record the mission and whether the crash happens at the same point on repeated attempts. A 2025 Steam discussion describes one player’s mission-start crash; it does not establish that all players with this symptom have the same bug. Replies suggested reinstalling the game, updating the graphics driver, and updating Visual C++ Redistributables. The original poster later reported no further crashes after trying multiple steps, so the account does not show which one—if any—resolved the issue.

It crashes unpredictably during play
Write down what was happening immediately before the crash and whether the problem repeats under similar conditions. Compare your processor, memory, graphics card, operating system, and free storage with the Steam requirements above. A mismatch is useful context for troubleshooting, not proof that the component caused the crash.
