What kind of game is Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2?
You play Raven, a contract sniper operating in a fictional lawless region near the Lebanese and Syrian borders. The campaign is single-player and centers on contracts that combine long-range shooting, tactical stealth, equipment choices, and open combat when an approach goes wrong. CI Games promotes shots at targets beyond 1,000 metres; the official game page also frames play around extreme-range sniping, planning an assault, and surviving when plans fail.
The PlayStation listing describes five extensive maps, 20 contracts, and side operations. It also presents contracts as replayable, with different approaches and objectives. Those are the store’s stated features, not a measure of how long a playthrough takes. Loadouts can be customized from unlockable weapons and equipment.
What do the reviews say?
The most consistent point of praise is the central sniping-and-contract loop: spacious missions give players room to study targets, plan routes, and solve encounters with a rifle or stealth. Reservations include bugs and technical flaws, as well as enemy AI that can weaken the tactical challenge.

These are the review counts and scores displayed on Metacritic’s PC page and PS5 page when accessed in 2026. They describe different platform snapshots and should not be combined into a universal score. The PS5-specific praise does not establish how the game performs on PC, PS4, or Xbox. The PC page quotes PC Gamer’s review as “Blending classic stealth mechanics with puzzle-y sniping, Contracts 2 gets the job done”; aggregator excerpts are not a replacement for each publication’s full review.
Steam’s 2026 search-result snapshot showed 85% positive from 4,485 English-language reviews overall, and 80% positive from 122 recent reviews. Is it worth playing?
It is a good fit if you want a solo shooter where patience, positioning, and planning matter as much as aim. The strongest case is the chance to approach contract targets through open-ended missions and make long-distance shots. It is a less certain choice if you expect consistently polished technology or highly capable enemy AI; those are among the reservations in the critic excerpts.
- Consider it for: methodical sniping, stealth, replayable objectives, and choosing your own approach to a mission.
- Temper expectations for: flawless technical performance or consistently convincing enemy behavior.
- Choose by platform: use reviews for the platform you intend to play on rather than assuming PS5 feedback applies to other hardware.
How do the platforms and editions differ?
The ESRB lists Windows PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series versions. The PlayStation Store lists PS4 and PS5 editions, including a Complete Edition that contains the base game and all DLC. Its listing describes the Butcher’s Banquet expansion as adding the Temple region and new objectives; other packs add weapons or cosmetics.
