The rerelease keeps the original visuals and controls while adding rollback netcode, online lobbies, tournament modes, a hitbox viewer, and an art gallery.
When did the SVC Chaos rerelease come out?
SNK announced the return on July 21, 2024, but its English press release says the Steam version was already available “today (July 20).” Switch, PS4, and GOG versions followed on July 22. The dates mark platform launches, not the date the announcement was published. SNK identifies SVC CHAOS as a 2003 arcade game, so the 2024 return came more than 20 years after its arcade debut—not on an exact 20th anniversary.

SNK’s July 2024 announcement and official product page document the release. Steam lists July 20, while Nintendo lists July 22 for Switch.
Which platforms can you play it on?
The rerelease was released for Steam on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and GOG. SNK’s listed platforms do not include Xbox or a native PS5 edition. Nintendo says the Switch version is supported on Switch 2; that is compatibility for the Switch release, not a separate Switch 2 version.

For PC, Steam lists Windows 10, 2 GB of RAM, DirectX 9.0, and 270 MB of storage as minimum requirements; its recommended graphics entry is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070. These are Steam’s published specifications and may change, so check the current Steam listing before installing.
What does the rerelease add?
SNK says the release retains the arcade game’s visuals and controls and adds online and reference features. The publisher’s feature list includes:

These are features SNK describes for the release; the product information does not establish comparative netcode performance or gameplay differences between platforms.
Who is on the 36-character roster?
SNK describes a 36-character lineup drawing from both companies’ properties. The publisher’s examples include SNK characters Kyo Kusanagi, Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui, Mars People, and Athena, alongside Capcom characters Ryu, Chun-Li, Demitri, Zero, and Red Arremer. Athena and Red Arremer were hidden characters in the arcade version; SNK says both are selectable from the start in the rerelease.

Are physical copies available?
Physical Switch and PS4 editions were listed for November 21, 2024, on SNK’s Japanese product page. Limited Run Games also documented standard and Classic physical editions for both platforms, but its catalog currently marks those editions sold out. That status does not establish whether other retailers or resale listings have copies.
The Limited Run Classic Editions included the physical game, reversible cover art, an SNK Neo Geo snap case, a reversible poster, a commemorative nonfunctional Neo Geo cartridge, and art cards. The PS4 edition description says its disc is region-free and works on PS5; check the specific edition’s details if that compatibility matters to you.

A physical Nintendo Switch copy is the clearest product phrase to search if you want a boxed version. The existence of the edition does not establish current Amazon stock, price, seller, or condition, so verify the individual listing before buying.
What did it cost at launch?
SNK’s 2024 English product page listed a $19.99 price and ESRB Teen and PEGI 16 ratings. Its Japanese page listed digital editions at ¥2,980 and packaged editions at ¥3,960, both tax included, with a CERO B rating. These are publisher-listed market details from release materials, not guaranteed current prices or universal ratings; regional storefront listings may differ.
