Bellion is the clearest candidate to rival or surpass Beru: a fan-maintained roster places him one grade above Beru. Igris and Tusk share Beru’s listed grade, while Greed is ranked below them. That supports four useful comparisons, not a definitive five-name canon ranking. The fifth slot is better treated as an open question than filled with an unsupported pick.
What counts as a rival to Beru?
“Rival” can mean several different things: the same formal shadow grade, a comparable combat showing, a tactical advantage in a particular matchup, or greater overall strength. Those are not interchangeable. A grade can help frame a comparison, but it does not prove that two soldiers are equal in every fight.
The available roster is a fan-maintained reference, not an official ranking. It notes that Shadow Authority, intelligence, and level can also affect strength. The story version and point in its progression matter too, so the comparisons below are best read as qualified interpretations rather than a settled canon list.

The grades in the table come from the fan-maintained Shadows roster. Its rankings are useful for identifying comparisons, but they should not be mistaken for an official power scale.

How each matchup differs
Bellion: the strongest case by status
Bellion is the clearest comparison if the question is who might stand above Beru in the hierarchy: the roster assigns him Grand Marshal and Beru Marshal. A fan-maintained Bellion page also summarizes a spar in which Bellion ensnares Beru with his weapon. That is a specific encounter, not proof that Bellion would win every possible fight or that the same outcome applies across versions and story points.
Igris: equal listed grade, different comparison
Igris and Beru are both listed as Marshals. That makes Igris a natural peer to compare, but grade is only one axis: it does not erase differences in fighting style, development, or the circumstances of a confrontation. The roster alone cannot settle who is stronger overall.

Tusk: a tactical threat, not a proven duel winner
Tusk also appears at Marshal grade. His magic and ranged utility make him a credible tactical challenger where distance or battlefield role matters. That is a matchup-based argument, not evidence that he would defeat Beru in a direct fight.
Greed: a situational challenger
Greed is listed as a General, below the Marshal entries. That makes him a more qualified inclusion: he may be worth comparing through ability or role, but the grade evidence does not justify presenting him as Beru’s consistent equal.

Why there is no defensible fifth name here
The source-supported roster identifies four relevant comparisons—Bellion, Igris, Tusk, and Greed—but does not establish a fifth distinct shadow who can rival Beru. Adding a name just to make the count reach five would turn an uncertain fan comparison into an unsupported canon claim. A fifth candidate should only be named after checking the specific scene in the licensed novel or comic and stating whether the claim concerns rank, a feat, or a situational advantage.

The comparison may differ depending on whether you are reading the novel or its comic adaptation. Yen Press lists the English Solo Leveling novel series and an individual Volume 5 listing. Tappytoon identifies its Solo Leveling comic as an official licensed English translation. Check the relevant scene in the edition you are reading before treating a specific feat or encounter as evidence for a broader ranking.
