When did SOMA leave PS Plus?
ComicBook.com reported on October 11, 2022 that SOMA was scheduled to leave the Extra and Premium catalogs on October 18, 2022. The report is historical; it does not indicate that the game is leaving now or that subscribers have a new window to play it. ComicBook.com’s October 2022 report is the source for that date.
What is SOMA?
SOMA is a horror adventure from Frictional Games AB. The US PlayStation Store lists it as a PS4 game released September 22, 2015, in the Horror, Adventure, and Action genres. Its story takes place in PATHOS-II, an isolated underwater facility, where players investigate what happened through exploration, terminals, and documents. The US PlayStation Store listing describes threats including corrupted humans, creatures, robots, and an AI.
Expect evasion, not combat
PlayStation’s description says there is “no fighting back”: players must outsmart threats or run. That makes the game’s tension different from horror games built around weapons and direct combat. The store listing is a synopsis, not an independent assessment of how every encounter plays.

Can you still play or buy it on PlayStation?
The US PlayStation Store currently has a purchase listing for the digital PS4 game. Its page also says it is playable on PS5, with a caveat that some PS4 features may be absent. Check the listing for your country and console before buying: pricing and availability can vary by region and change over time. A past PS Plus catalog entitlement should not be assumed to provide access after the game’s catalog departure.

Why the headline’s timing is misleading now
The departure was reported in October 2022, so framing it as an imminent loss misstates the timing for readers in 2026. The “worst possible time” phrasing is an opinion, not a new catalog announcement. If you are looking for PS Plus Extra games leaving now, consult current PlayStation catalog notices rather than relying on this old date.
