Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing [5] is found in Crumbling Farum Azula, near the Beside the Great Bridge Site of Grace. Give it to the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold to unlock Somber Smithing Stone [9] for purchase. It does not unlock the separate material needed to upgrade a special armament to +10.
Where is Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing [5]?
Find it on a corpse at an altar in a ruined church in Crumbling Farum Azula, near Beside the Great Bridge. For the short route from that Site of Grace, turn around, take the elevator down, then descend the stairs to the next room. The corpse is at the altar. PowerPyx’s bell-bearing location guide and Gamer Guides’ entry describe the same altar pickup.
What does Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing [5] unlock?
Take the bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold and offer it to them. It unlocks Somber Smithing Stone [9] in their shop inventory; the bearing is not itself a stone or a free upgrade. The game’s item description, as reproduced by Fextralife’s item entry, says it grants access to Somber Smithing Stone [9].
How do I get Somber Smithing Stone [9]?
- Find Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing [5] at the church altar in Crumbling Farum Azula.
- At Roundtable Hold, offer it to the Twin Maiden Husks.
- Buy Somber Smithing Stone [9] from their inventory, then use the upgrade system to reinforce a compatible special armament.
Somber Smithing Stone [9] is the final numbered tier in the Somber sequence and takes a special armament to +9. A separate Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone is needed for the final reinforcement to +10. The bearing does not unlock or supply that material. Fextralife’s Somber Smithing Stone [9] entry and its Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone entry distinguish the materials.
