When does the Switch 2 Edition release?
The date depends on which regional SEGA announcement you follow. SEGA Japan’s January 13, 2026 announcement gives April 10, 2026, for the physical edition. SEGA’s English-language Asia page, also dated January 13, gives March 26, 2026, saying the game “will hit store shelves” that day. The announcements do not explain the difference, so neither date should be treated as universal. Check your local retailer for the date in your market.

The digital Switch 2 Edition launched in Japan on December 4, 2025, according to SEGA Japan.
How much does it cost?
SEGA Japan lists the Switch 2 Edition at ¥7,990 including tax for both the digital release and the physical edition. The same Japanese price list gives ¥6,990 including tax for the original Switch standard edition. These are Japan-market prices; the official pages cited here do not establish a US-dollar price for the physical game or the paid upgrade pack.

Compare the local release date and price, whether you want physical or digital, and—if choosing the upgrade route—the combined cost of the original game and pack. The available US listing does not establish a total-cost comparison.
Can you transfer your Switch save?
SEGA says saved data can transfer from the Switch version to the Switch 2 Edition. If you use the Switch 2 Edition on an original Nintendo Switch, SEGA cautions that it will have Switch-level performance and features.

Is there an early-purchase bonus?
SEGA’s regional announcements name the Werehog Pack as an early-purchase bonus. SEGA Japan describes it as the Werehog, Beast Spike, and a Werehog sticker. Bonus eligibility and availability can vary by market and retailer, so check the local offer before buying.

What to check before you buy
- Confirm the release date and price with a retailer in your region; the two cited SEGA regional pages give different physical-release dates.
- For the upgrade route, make sure you own the original Switch game and compare the combined cost with the physical or digital Switch 2 Edition.
- Check whether the Werehog Pack bonus applies to the specific retailer and purchase window.
