Bloomberg reported on March 4, 2026, that Sony had dropped plans to bring the game to PC, citing people familiar with the company’s plans. But the available reporting does not establish that a port was nearly finished, close to release, or ever publicly announced. Sony’s official page lists the game as a PS5 and PS5 Pro exclusive.
Which game did Sony reportedly cancel for PC?
It was Ghost of Yōtei, Sucker Punch’s single-player action game. Bloomberg’s March 4, 2026 report said Sony no longer planned PC releases for major PlayStation 5 single-player games, naming Ghost of Yōtei and the then-upcoming Saros. The report attributed the information to people familiar with Sony’s plans who were not authorized to speak publicly. Bloomberg’s report is the source of the original claim; Ars Technica’s coverage described the PC plans for those games as canceled. Sony declined to comment to Bloomberg, according to Ars.

A later report by Gematsu, dated May 18, 2026, said SIE Studio Business Group CEO Hermen Hulst confirmed at a company town hall that Sony would no longer release its big single-player titles on PC. Gematsu did not provide a verbatim quote from Hulst. Read Gematsu’s report.
Was the PC version really canceled “at the last minute”?
That timing is not established. The reports describe a change in Sony’s plans and say PC plans were canceled, but they do not say when a port would have launched, how long it had been in development, or how much work was complete. They also do not establish that Sony had publicly announced a PC version. There is no basis in these reports to describe a finished or nearly finished port being pulled.

Can you play Ghost of Yōtei on PC now?
Sony’s official US product page lists Ghost of Yōtei as a PS5 and PS5 Pro exclusive and says it launched on PS5 on October 2, 2025. Its FAQ asks whether the game will be on PC and points to that PS5-exclusive launch information. Sony has not announced a PC release on that page. See Sony’s official game page.
For someone willing to play on a PlayStation console, Sony lists a physical Standard Edition Blu-ray copy as well as a Complete Edition. The Blu-ray is a PS5 product, not a way to run the game on a PC; check the official page for current edition details and availability.

Does this mean every Sony game is leaving PC?
No. The reported strategy change concerns major single-player games, not every game Sony publishes. Bloomberg and Ars described multiplayer releases such as Marathon and Marvel Tokon as exceptions expected to remain multiplatform. They also reported that some games published by Sony but developed externally—including Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Kena: Scars of Kosmora—were not affected. These are reported exceptions, not a permanent guarantee about Sony’s plans for every future title.

Those details describe the game itself; they do not indicate how far any unannounced PC version may have progressed.
