On a computer, Sony’s software is split by purpose: PS Remote Play connects a Windows PC or Mac to a PS5 or PS4, INZONE Hub configures supported gaming peripherals, and Music Center for PC manages music and compatible audio devices.
The short answer: Sony has PC software, but the PlayStation App is mobile-only
The wording matters. If you mean the app used on a phone for PlayStation messaging, library management and captures, you cannot install an official Windows or macOS version. Sony’s PlayStation App FAQ answers the question “Is there a PlayStation App for PC?” with “No, there is no PlayStation App for PC.” Sony identifies iOS and Android smartphones and tablets as the supported platforms.

That does not mean Sony has no computer applications. Sony publishes separate programs for specific jobs rather than one all-purpose PlayStation desktop client. Your choice depends on whether you want to play a console remotely, adjust a gaming accessory or organize music.

PS Remote Play: Sony’s main PlayStation app for PC
PS Remote Play is the Sony application to use when you want to access a PS5 or PS4 from a computer. It supports both console generations and runs on Windows PCs and Macs. The computer displays the console session while commands are sent back over the network, so you still need the relevant console, a PlayStation account and a suitable connection.
What you need before installing
- A PS5 or PS4 with current system software.
- A PlayStation account that is the same account used on the console.
- A Windows PC or Mac that meets Sony’s published requirements.
- A high-speed network connection. Sony gives 5 Mbps upload and 5 Mbps download as a baseline and recommends 15 Mbps or more for the best performance.
- A compatible controller. Sony lists DualSense, DualSense Edge and DUALSHOCK 4 controllers for PC and Mac use.
- A USB cable for connecting the controller, as specified in Sony’s setup guidance.
A DualSense wireless controller is optional hardware, not a mandatory purchase for every Remote Play user. The important requirement is a controller supported by Sony’s guide and a way to connect it by USB when setting up the computer session.
Published Windows requirements
| Requirement | Sony’s stated baseline |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10, 64-bit, or Windows 11 |
| Processor | Intel Core 7th generation or newer |
| Memory | At least 2 GB RAM |
| Storage | At least 100 MB available storage |
| Display | 1024 × 768 or higher |
| Other hardware | Sound card and USB port |
| Network guidance | 5 Mbps upload and download as a baseline; 15 Mbps or higher recommended for best performance |
These are Sony’s published thresholds, not a promise that every network will deliver identical results. Wireless congestion, distance from the router and other traffic can affect responsiveness even when a connection meets the stated speed.

- Update the PS5 or PS4 to its latest available system software.
- Install the current PS Remote Play application for your Windows PC or Mac from Sony.
- Sign in to the application with the same PlayStation account used on the console. Using a different account prevents the app from finding the intended console session.
- Connect a supported controller to the computer with a USB cable. Sony’s listed choices are DualSense, DualSense Edge and DUALSHOCK 4.
- Make sure the console and computer have the required network connection. Start with Sony’s 5 Mbps upload/download baseline; 15 Mbps or more is the recommended target for better performance.
- Use the app’s console connection option to select the PS5 or PS4. The application then establishes the remote session over the network.
The exact screens can change as Sony updates the application, but the account, console software, controller and network prerequisites remain the checks that determine whether setup succeeds.

Common Remote Play problems and the relevant check
- The console is not found: confirm that the console has current system software and that the app is signed in to the same PlayStation account. A network that is connected to the internet but isolated from the console can also prevent discovery.
- Controls do not work: reconnect the DualSense, DualSense Edge or DUALSHOCK 4 with the USB cable specified by Sony, then verify that the controller is recognized by the computer.
- Video stutters or input feels delayed: measure the connection against Sony’s 5 Mbps baseline and 15 Mbps recommendation. Other network traffic can consume upload or download capacity, so testing with fewer simultaneous activities is a sensible diagnostic step.
- The computer cannot install the app: check the 64-bit Windows requirement, processor generation, available storage, display resolution, sound card and USB port before troubleshooting the console.
INZONE Hub: PC controls for supported Sony gaming gear
INZONE Hub is not a way to launch PlayStation games or replace the PlayStation App. It is dedicated Windows software for supported Sony INZONE devices. Sony describes it as designed for computers running Windows 10 or later. The app provides sound and other device settings, including per-game configurations, so the available controls depend on the connected product.
Version and compatibility
Sony’s software listing identifies INZONE Hub version 1.0.20.0, released on October 7, 2026. Because the application is intended for supported Sony hardware, check the compatibility information for your exact INZONE product before installing. A Windows computer that meets the operating-system requirement is not, by itself, evidence that every INZONE device will work with every feature.
When INZONE Hub is the right choice
- Choose it when you need to adjust a supported INZONE device from Windows.
- Use it for device sound controls or game-specific profiles rather than console account functions.
- Do not install it expecting Remote Play, PlayStation messaging or console-library management; those belong to different services.
Music Center for PC: Windows music management
Music Center for PC is Sony’s Windows application for managing a music collection and compatible Sony audio products. Its stated functions include organizing and playing music, high-resolution audio playback and transferring music to devices such as Walkman. It is separate from the mobile Music Center app and unrelated to PS Remote Play.
Current Windows details
Sony’s download listing identifies Music Center for PC version 2.7.3, released March 31, 2026. The listing supports Windows 11 Home and Pro version 23H2 or later. It excludes Windows 11 S and Windows 11 for ARM. Those edition restrictions matter: a computer can be branded “Windows 11” yet still use an edition or processor type that Sony does not list as compatible.

- GAME IN COMFORT: Game for hours in comfort with soft headband and smooth nylon ear pads.
- PERSONALIZE YOUR GAMEPLAY: Personalize your gaming and audio experience through the INZONE Hub software. Adjust equalizer, spatial sound, dynamic range control and microphone settings.
What the app is for
- Cataloging and organizing music stored on the Windows computer.
- Playing music, including high-resolution audio where the files and hardware support it.
- Transferring music to compatible Sony devices such as Walkman.
Use Music Center for PC when the task starts with a music library or Sony audio device. It does not provide PlayStation console streaming, PlayStation messages or INZONE peripheral profiles.
How to choose the correct Sony download
- Start with the job, not the Sony logo. Console access points to PS Remote Play; gaming-device configuration points to INZONE Hub; music organization or Walkman transfer points to Music Center for PC.
- Check the computer platform. Remote Play supports Windows and macOS, while the INZONE and Music Center applications described here are Windows software. Music Center has additional edition and processor exclusions.
- Confirm the required Sony hardware. Remote Play requires a PS5 or PS4. INZONE Hub requires a supported INZONE product. Music Center is intended for compatible Sony audio devices and music files.
- Read the live compatibility page before installation. Sony can change operating-system support, hardware lists and software versions. The version numbers and dates above describe the listings identified in October 2026, not a permanent guarantee.
What you cannot do with a Sony PC app
No single official Sony desktop application combines the PlayStation App’s mobile functions, console Remote Play, INZONE controls and music management. In particular, downloading Remote Play does not create a PC version of the PlayStation App. If your goal is messaging, viewing the PlayStation library or handling captures through the PlayStation App interface, Sony’s stated platform remains iOS or Android.
Conversely, the mobile PlayStation App is not a substitute for Remote Play: it does not turn a Windows PC or Mac into a streamed PS5 or PS4 display. The console-streaming task belongs to PS Remote Play and carries its own account, network, controller and computer requirements.

Sony does have PC apps, but the answer to “Does Sony have a PC app?” depends on which Sony service you mean. There is no PlayStation App for PC. For playing a PS5 or PS4 from a computer, install PS Remote Play and meet Sony’s hardware and network requirements. For supported INZONE gaming products, use INZONE Hub on Windows 10 or later. For music libraries and Walkman transfers, use Music Center for PC on a supported Windows 11 edition. Treat them as purpose-built tools rather than interchangeable versions of one desktop app.
