PlayStation Australia published its “PlayStation 30th Anniversary | Thank You” video on December 2, 2024, marking three decades since the original PlayStation launched in Japan. The clip’s message is one of gratitude for the memories, adventures, laughter and friendships players have shared with the brand.
What the PlayStation 30th anniversary video says
The official PlayStation Australia video listing describes the clip as a thank-you for 30 years of shared experiences. It says, “We’ve forged new friendships and redefined what gaming is all about.” PlayStation’s broader anniversary message adds: “Thank you for being part of this journey — we couldn’t have done it without you.”

Insider Gaming reported that the video runs for about two minutes and features major PlayStation franchises alongside on-screen messages. That is a secondary description; the official listing does not provide a full scene-by-scene account.
Why the anniversary date differs by region
The video was published on December 2, 2024, one day before the 30th anniversary of the original PlayStation’s Japanese launch on December 3, 1994. The console did not launch everywhere on that date: Sony Interactive Entertainment says North America and Europe followed in September 1995. The anniversary campaign’s 30-year framing centers on PlayStation’s beginnings in Japan, rather than a single worldwide release date.

How the video fits into the anniversary campaign
The thank-you clip was part of a wider celebration, not a product announcement. PlayStation’s anniversary page lists a 400-page visual history book, PlayStation: The First 30 Years, and limited-edition PS5 consoles and accessories. Those items provide context for the campaign; the video description does not say they appear in the clip, and the listing does not establish their current availability.
Sony Interactive Entertainment’s later anniversary recap, published September 29, 2025, also mentions three PlayStation x Reebok sneaker designs associated with the celebration: the InstaPump Fury 94 for Japan, Pump Omni Zone II for the United States, and Workout Plus for the United Kingdom. They are peripheral to the video announcement and are not presented as currently available.
