Sony ended sales of Concord on September 3, 2024, and said the game would go offline beginning September 6. It promised full refunds to purchasers on PS5 and PC, but the refund route depended on where each copy was bought. Sony later confirmed that the game was offline and Firewalk Studios was closing.
What happened to Concord?
On September 3, 2024, Firewalk Studios Game Director Ryan Ellis announced that Sony was stopping sales immediately and would take Concord offline beginning September 6. Ellis said the studio would “explore options, including those that will better reach our players.” PlayStation’s announcement promised full refunds to purchasers on PS5 and PC.

On October 29, 2024, Sony Interactive Entertainment said Concord had been taken offline and announced that Firewalk Studios was closing. Sony said some aspects of the game were exceptional, while others “did not land with enough players.” Sony’s October update did not provide a player count or sales total.

Sony’s instructions separated refunds by purchase channel. Use the route that matches where you bought the game:

The announcement did not establish the outcome or remaining eligibility for an individual transaction. For physical copies, the retailer—not PlayStation Store—was the point of contact specified by Sony.
What does the shutdown mean for physical copies?
Sony confirmed that physical retail copies existed, but its notices do not establish whether a disc can provide a playable experience after the service shutdown. They also do not verify current stock or resale value. Treat a physical edition as a possible collector item only after checking a current listing and its details; the existence of retail copies alone does not establish availability, value, or post-shutdown playability.

What Sony said about the decision
In the September 3 announcement, Ellis cited the studio’s difficulty finding a path to a sustainable future for Concord. In October, Sony’s explanation was that some elements were exceptional but the game did not reach enough players in other respects. Neither official statement supplied a numerical measure of sales or players, so a specific figure cannot be confirmed from those statements.
