Sony’s official 27" Gaming Monitor with DualSense Charging Hook is no longer a mystery-priced reveal. Announced originally during the November 11, 2025 State of Play Japan presentation, the monitor costs $349.99 in the U.S., launches on August 27, 2026, and was available for preorder from June 5 through PlayStation Direct and Best Buy.
Its main selling point is an integrated charging hook for a separately purchased DualSense or DualSense Edge controller. The display itself is a 27-inch, 1440p IPS monitor with up to 240Hz refresh on compatible PCs—but PS5 and PS5 Pro users are limited to up to 120Hz in supported games.

Sony lists the monitor at a U.S. MSRP of $349.99. U.S. preorders opened on June 5, 2026, and the official launch date is August 27, 2026.
In the U.S., Sony says it will be sold through PlayStation Direct and Best Buy, while availability in Japan includes participating retailers. What makes it a PlayStation monitor?
This is a PlayStation-branded desktop gaming monitor designed for PS5, PS5 Pro, PC, and Mac. It is separate from Sony’s INZONE monitor range, so the PlayStation branding does not mean it is Sony’s highest-end gaming display.
The distinctive feature is the integrated DualSense charging hook. It is designed to hold and charge a DualSense or DualSense Edge wireless controller between gaming sessions, helping keep a desk setup tidy and the controller ready. The controller is not included, so buyers must own or purchase one separately.

- 【INTEGRATED SPEAKERS】Whether you're at work or in the midst of an intense gaming session, our built-in speakers provide rich and seamless audio, all while keeping your desk clutter-free.
- 【EASY ON THE EYES】 Protect your eyes and enhance your comfort with Blue-Light Shift technology. This feature reduces harmful blue light emissions from your screen, helping to alleviate eye strain during long hours of use and promoting healthier viewing habits.
- 【WIDEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE】Our sleek minimal bezel design ensures undivided attention. The nearly bezel-free display seamlessly connects in a dual monitor arrangement, delivering an unobstructed view that lets you focus on more at once, completely distraction-free.
Sony also says the monitor can work with PlayStation Link adapters and multiple desktop devices, making it suitable for a combined console-and-PC setup rather than a PS5-only station.
Display specifications
| Specification | Details |
|---|---|
| Panel | 27-inch IPS |
| Resolution | 2560 × 1440 (QHD) |
| Aspect ratio | 16:9 |
| Maximum refresh rate | Up to 240Hz |
| PS5 refresh rate | Up to 120Hz with compatible games |
| HDR | Supported |
| Brightness | 350 cd/m2 |
| Contrast ratio | 1000:1 |
| Color gamut | 95% DCI-P3 |
| Variable refresh rate | HDMI VRR and AMD FreeSync Premium |
| Speakers | Two built-in 3W stereo speakers |
| VESA mounting | 100 × 100mm |
| Stand adjustment | 140mm height adjustment |
| Weight with stand | Approximately 6.2kg / 13.7lb |
These are solid specifications for a mixed console-and-PC desk setup, but the monitor is not 4K and it is not OLED. Its 350 cd/m2 brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio are typical of a conventional IPS design, so the HDR specification should not be confused with the deeper blacks and stronger contrast associated with OLED displays. Sony has not established independent results for input latency, response times, HDR performance, or color accuracy in the supplied material.
240Hz on PC, 120Hz on PS5
The headline 240Hz refresh rate is primarily a PC feature. Compatible PCs and Macs can drive the monitor at up to 240Hz at 1440p, depending on the graphics hardware, connection, game, and settings.

- AMD FreeSync - AMD FreeSync equips gamers with a fluid, virtually tear-free gaming experience. With up to a 180Hz refresh rate at Full HD resolution and low latency gameplay, you'll never miss a frame of the action as you play at peak performance.
- Gamer-Centric Design - Lose yourself in the game with a three-side virtually borderless, ultra-thin design that optimizes space on your battlestation. With two HMDI ports and DisplayPort connectivity on a tilt adjustable display, game to your specs.
PS5 and PS5 Pro do not turn this into a 240Hz console display. Sony lists PS5 support at up to 120Hz in compatible games. That makes the monitor appropriate for high-refresh console play, but the extra 120Hz of headroom matters mainly to PC gamers playing titles capable of producing very high frame rates.
For PS5 owners, 1440p is a practical middle ground: sharper than 1080p while avoiding the higher rendering demands of 4K. However, buyers specifically seeking 4K output from a PS5 Pro should look elsewhere.
Ports and connectivity
The monitor includes:
- Two HDMI 2.1 inputs
- One DisplayPort 1.4 input
- Two USB-A downstream ports
- One USB-C downstream port
- One USB-B upstream port
- One 3.5mm headphone output
- Built-in stereo speakers
Sony lists the HDMI inputs as supporting up to 2560 × 1440 at 240Hz, along with FRL and VRR. DisplayPort supports 2560 × 1440 at 240Hz with DSC.

Sony’s original announcement also states that an HDMI or DisplayPort cable is not included. Who should consider it?
- PS5 owners building a desk setup: The 27-inch size, HDMI 2.1 inputs, VRR support, speakers, height adjustment, and controller charging make it convenient for compact gaming spaces.
- PS5 and PC users: One display can handle up to 120Hz console gaming and up to 240Hz PC gaming, provided the computer can drive 1440p at that rate.
- PlayStation enthusiasts: The branding and integrated DualSense storage and charging are the product’s clearest differentiators.
- Competitive PC players who use DualSense: The 240Hz ceiling and QHD resolution are relevant for high-frame-rate PC games, while the charging hook adds ecosystem convenience.
Who should skip it?
- 4K-focused PS5 Pro owners: This is a 2560 × 1440 monitor, not a 4K display.
- OLED buyers: The IPS panel and 1000:1 contrast ratio do not promise OLED-like blacks or contrast.
- Premium HDR shoppers: HDR is supported, but the listed 350 cd/m2 brightness is modest for someone seeking a high-impact HDR experience.
- Existing 1440p monitor owners: An upgrade is difficult to justify if you already have a capable 144Hz or 165Hz display and do not need the charging hook.
- Value-first shoppers: At $349.99, the PlayStation integration is part of what you are paying for. Other monitors may offer stronger panel performance or lower prices, even though they will not replicate the built-in controller feature.
How it compares with Sony’s INZONE range
Sony’s INZONE monitors are a separate gaming-monitor family that includes higher-end models and OLED options. The new PlayStation monitor should therefore be understood as an ecosystem-focused desktop display, not an automatic replacement for premium INZONE hardware.
The choice is straightforward: choose the PlayStation monitor if the DualSense charging hook, PlayStation styling, and mixed PS5/PC setup matter most. Consider an INZONE or another premium gaming monitor if image quality, OLED contrast, 4K resolution, or advanced HDR matters more than controller integration.
Verdict
Sony’s $349.99 monitor is best viewed as a convenience-focused PlayStation accessory with respectable 1440p gaming specifications. Its 240Hz mode is meaningful for PC users, while PS5 players receive up to 120Hz on supported games. The DualSense charging hook is genuinely useful, but it does not improve image quality—and the controller costs extra.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThat makes the monitor a sensible fit for a PS5 owner who wants a clean desk setup or a PC-and-console player already invested in DualSense. It is a weaker proposition for buyers who want the best panel performance per dollar, 4K PS5 Pro output, or OLED-level HDR. Sony’s specifications establish the feature set, but independent testing is still needed to judge response time, input lag, HDR behavior, color accuracy, and charging performance.
