The “more than 700 games” announcement refers to the redesigned PS Plus that Sony announced in March 2022 and rolled out that year. The figure described the combined launch catalog for the Extra and Premium tiers—not 700 newly released games.
What Sony announced—and what “700+ games” meant
On March 29, 2022, Sony announced that PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now would be brought together under the PlayStation Plus name, with three membership tiers. Sony said the Extra and Premium tiers would offer more than 700 games in total at launch, drawing on the Game Catalog and, for Premium, additional offerings. The announced figure was a launch-catalog count, not a promise of 700 brand-new releases. Sony’s March 2022 announcement attributed the plan to Jim Ryan, then president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

When the redesigned service launched
The launch was a regional rollout, not a single worldwide June date. Sony said the rollout began in Asia in late May 2022. The redesigned service launched in North and South America on June 13, with Europe and Australia following later that month. Sony’s Americas launch announcement confirms the June 13 date.
What PlayStation Plus is doing in June 2026
Sony’s June 2026 posts describe regular monthly content updates, not a reboot or a new 700-game launch. The monthly games announced for June were Grounded Fully Yoked Edition, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, available to all members beginning June 2. Sony listed separate Game Catalog additions for Extra and Premium, including Final Fantasy XVI, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and Life is Strange: Double Exposure; Premium also included Gitaroo Man. Some titles had staggered regional dates, while Sony said the full lineup would be available June 16 in other regions. Sony’s June Game Catalog announcement and June Monthly Games announcement distinguish these updates by membership benefit.

Monthly Games and Game Catalog titles are different
Monthly Games are offered to all PlayStation Plus members to add to their library during the claim window. Game Catalog titles are a rotating selection associated with Extra and Premium (called Deluxe in some markets); access depends on membership tier and whether a title remains in the catalog. A game described as “new” in a monthly announcement may be newly added to that catalog, not newly released by its publisher.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to check whether a particular game is included
- Check the membership tier. Confirm whether the game is listed as a Monthly Game or a Game Catalog title, and whether it requires Extra, Premium, or Deluxe.
- Check your region. Sony says catalog availability and lineups vary by region and plan, and some additions may have different regional dates.
- Check the game’s current listing and dates. For a Monthly Game, confirm the claim period. For a Game Catalog title, check that it is currently available and whether Sony lists a date when it leaves.
Sony’s June 2026 announcements are examples of ongoing additions; they do not establish a current worldwide catalog total or exhaustive country-by-country availability.
