Soulframe’s latest listed hotfix, Preludes 16: Of Hook and Hound Hotfix 4, lets players direct their Wolfpup’s stat growth: open the pup’s Stats and hold the Add prompt on the stat line you want to improve. Stat choices remain permanent, however, and Digital Extremes said respec options were still under consideration. The official patch index lists this as the newest hotfix under Preludes 16, whose main update arrived September 18, 2026; “latest” can change as new patches arrive.
How to allocate your Wolfpup’s stats
- Open your Wolfpup’s Stats view.
- Choose the stat you want to increase.
- Hold the Add prompt shown on that stat line to assign points.
The change gives players control over where stat points go rather than having starting Temperaments applied automatically. Players can allocate all 15 Stat points as they choose, provided the stats they select have been trained. Starting Temperaments are optional; the Wolfpup retains its original Temperament Stats, and players decide whether to add them.
Digital Extremes reset Wolfpup stats to accommodate the new allocation system but retained training progress. The studio described stat selection as permanent and said respec options were still being considered, so do not treat the new system as freely reversible.
What the Aura and Virtue changes do
Hotfix 4 changes how three Auras contribute to Virtues, and adds a per-rank benefit for Auras that grant Virtues:

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Aura | Virtue effect in Hotfix 4 |
|---|---|
| Guts | Grants additional Courage. |
| Endurance | Grants Grace. |
| Heart | Grants Spirit and increases Life recovery from healing Casts and Life Elixirs. It no longer grants a bonus to every Virtue. |
| Auras that grant Virtues | Earn an additional Virtue point per Stat rank. |
The patch notes do not give a complete numeric table of these bonuses, so the effects above describe their direction rather than a quantified build advantage.
Wolfpup bugs fixed and other adjustments

- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)

- Fixed Wolfpup stat training allowing more than 15 points.
- Fixed clients being unable to level the Speed stat.
- Fixed Auras above rank 3 not always providing increased bonuses.
- Fixed a training bar that failed to show the overall training level.
- Fixed an issue preventing players from consuming a treat when the Wolfpup was stuck behind water.
- Fixed clients not seeing the pup gain experience through emote prompts.
The update also gives players more information in Aura previews. It clarifies that Curiosity works only with Rare Chests and reduces Curiosity’s percent increase. Wolfpups now need to witness more combat encounters before gaining Guts experience, while the time required to potentially gain Speed experience has been reduced.
Choosing a direction for your Wolfpup
Soulframe’s update describes Wolfpups as growing in response to player activity: fetch, treasure hunting, petting, and combat build capabilities related to those actions. That makes your stat choices a way to emphasize the activities you want the pup to support, rather than a choice between established, fully quantified “best” builds.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- For combat-oriented play: consider the stats and Aura effects that align with combat and the Virtues you want to develop. Guts now contributes additional Courage, but the patch notes do not establish exact bonus values or a complete optimal allocation.
- For exploration and treasure hunting: consider the capabilities tied to treasure hunting and note that Curiosity applies only to Rare Chests. Its percent increase was reduced in this hotfix.
- Before assigning points: check which stats have been trained and decide whether to add the retained Temperament Stats. Since choices are permanent for now, avoid spending points on an untested assumption about an ideal build.
What the update means for Soulframe players
Preludes 16 also adds fishing, dynamic weather, new weapons and armor, and Shrine matchmaking, but Hotfix 4’s Wolfpup changes are most relevant to players shaping their companion’s growth. Soulframe’s official site describes Preludes as an evolving pre-alpha experience; the patch is part of that ongoing development rather than a separate Wolfpup purchase.
