To ace all three Tactical class trials in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, prioritize the trial’s stated objective, use Auspex when it can help you act on a target, and avoid stationary reloads when a weapon swap will keep you moving. The three trials are Auspex Scan, Battlefield Awareness, and Hidden Hunter. The walkthrough details available for these challenges date to around launch, so treat their tactics as guidance rather than guaranteed routes; if the live objective text differs, follow the game.

What to know before starting

The Armouring Hall’s class trials are training challenges, distinct from the later Trials of Resolve content. Guides report that Auspex Scan and Battlefield Awareness use the same completion tiers: 60, 50, and 40 seconds. For Hidden Hunter, the listed requirements are five headshot kills, scanning a Lictor with Auspex, and finishing within 60 seconds. These are guide-reported in-game targets, not player-performance statistics. Game8’s trial guide does not expose a publication date in the retrieved result.

Keep class advice current with care: Focus Entertainment’s Patch Notes 15.0 describe a rework of Tactical perks and an expanded melee weapon arsenal. The official anniversary update coverage also reflects that the game has continued to change. Neither source provides a current route for these training trials, so avoid assuming launch-era builds or footage precisely match the current version.

Auspex Scan: use the scan, then keep damage flowing

Game8 lists 60-, 50-, and 40-second tiers for Auspex Scan. Its advice centers on surviving the first Warrior’s opening and using each stage efficiently.

Opening Warrior and scan timing

  • Be ready to parry the first Tyranid Warrior. Game8 says it may open with a lunge or a two-hit swing; a successful parry can create a Gun Strike opportunity. Treat the opener as a possibility, not a guaranteed animation in the current build.
  • Scan each stage, and do not save Auspex just in case: the guide says ammunition and Auspex cooldown reset after the first two stages, making early use worthwhile under the described encounter.
  • Prioritize the immediate threat rather than spending time repositioning for a perfect attack. The trial is timed, and the guide’s parry suggestion is valuable because it can turn defense into damage.

Avoid giving away time to reloads

Against minoris enemies, Game8 recommends switching weapons instead of waiting through a reload. A Steam player separately describes scanning the first Warrior, taking a parry/Gun Strike opportunity, aiming at Warrior heads, and switching to the pistol when the primary runs low. That is one player’s anecdotal sequence, not a guaranteed route or time: Steam discussion.

Battlefield Awareness: scan to expose threats and watch your rear

Game8 lists 60-, 50-, and 40-second completion tiers. The trial listing describes the premise as using Auspex to reveal threats while avoiding attacks from behind. The available guide material does not establish a complete enemy order or route, so focus on the task rather than trying to memorize an unsupported sequence.

  • Experience thrilling, bloody and fast-paced third-person action with hundreds of opponents on screen
  • Defend the Empire as a Space Marine in brutal and always replayable PvE missions for up to 3 players
  • Use Auspex to identify the threats the objective calls out, then act on the revealed targets promptly.
  • Keep track of attacks from behind instead of tunneling on a single enemy. Awareness is part of the challenge, not just clearing targets quickly.
  • Choose targets that let you satisfy the current prompt with minimal delay. If enemies or objective wording differ from an older guide, use the live in-game instructions as authoritative.

The third-party Tactical trial listing supports the broad premise, but not a precise path or guaranteed completion time.

Hidden Hunter: meet the headshot and Lictor objectives first

The listed Hidden Hunter requirements are five headshot kills, one Lictor scanned with Auspex, and completion within 60 seconds, according to the Tactical trial listing. A 2024 video guide identifies the trial and includes a visual chapter at 1:54; use it for orientation, not proof that its encounter behavior remains unchanged.

  1. Track the headshot count as you engage enemies; body shots may spend time without advancing that requirement.
  2. Scan the Lictor with Auspex as soon as the encounter gives you a clear opportunity to do so. Do not assume that killing it substitutes for scanning it.
  3. Keep the 60-second limit in view while completing both explicit objectives. The available sources do not establish a universal shot order or route, so adapt to the targets and prompts in your current run.

How the three trials differ

Trial Reported objective or tier Useful focus Reload/parry emphasis
Auspex Scan 60-, 50-, and 40-second tiers (Game8) Scan each stage; manage the opening Warrior Parry may enable a Gun Strike; weapon swaps can avoid waiting to reload (Game8)
Battlefield Awareness 60-, 50-, and 40-second tiers (Game8); use Auspex to reveal threats Act on revealed threats and watch for attacks from behind No complete route or specific parry sequence established in the cited guide material
Hidden Hunter Five headshot kills, scan a Lictor with Auspex, finish within 60 seconds (trial listing) Complete both explicit requirements while tracking the timer No source-backed reload or parry sequence established

The third-party walkthrough details are launch-era, while Tactical has since received official changes. For all three challenges, let the current trial prompt resolve any mismatch rather than treating an older video or guide as a patch-current script.
