1047 Games announced Splitgate 2’s full launch for June 6, 2025, and introduced Battle Royale as a mode available at the same time. The studio’s launch FAQ says the game was “now fully launched” and points players to the Battle Royale announcement.
The reveal was a surprise addition to the launch announcement, rather than a later standalone release. Splitgate 2 was presented as a free-to-play shooter, with Battle Royale joining its other modes.

Five biomes linked by World Portals
The announcement described a large map with five biomes connected by World Portals. Teams would choose when to jump from an airship, begin with a pistol, and search for loot in chests, air drops and player pods. The portals tied the map’s different areas together, bringing Splitgate’s signature mechanic into the Battle Royale setting.
What else was available at launch?
Battle Royale joined several other experiences 1047 Games highlighted: Arena modes including Hotzone and Firecracker, 24-player Onslaught modes such as Domination, and The Lab, a map creator. The studio’s launch announcement framed the new mode as part of this broader lineup, not as a replacement for the game’s Arena-focused modes.

How did Splitgate 2’s direction change later in 2025?
The launch-day description is a snapshot of June 2025, not a complete account of the game’s later direction. In a subsequent Arena-first update, 1047 Games said Battle Royale needed to mature into a more natural extension of the core Arena experience. The studio later announced SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded, a free-to-play release scheduled for December 17, 2025, across PC, Xbox and PlayStation platforms, in its launch-date announcement.
Those later announcements put the surprise Battle Royale launch in context: the mode was part of Splitgate 2’s June release, while the studio subsequently emphasized Arena as the foundation of the experience. The available announcements do not establish whether every mode remained available in the same form after that shift.
