To complete the St. Trina questline in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, finish Thiollier’s NPC quest: deliver Moore’s Black Syrup, trigger the breaking of Miquella’s Great Rune, defeat the Putrescent Knight, repeatedly imbibe St. Trina’s nectar despite the intentional deaths, then report her words to Thiollier and finish the follow-up dialogue. Complete the sequence before burning the Sealing Tree if you want Thiollier’s late-game summon signs and the full post-boss rewards.
The key trap is the nectar. St. Trina’s nectar kills you on contact, but dying is required. Keep returning to the Garden of Deep Purple until St. Trina speaks, then continue the dialogue and invasion steps below.
Before you start
St. Trina does not have a separate quest log entry. Her story is the later part of Thiollier’s NPC questline, so you must begin with Thiollier in Gravesite Plain and complete several steps before reaching St. Trina in the Garden of Deep Purple.
- You need Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree and access to the Realm of Shadow.
- Accessing the DLC requires defeating Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood in the base game, then touching the withered arm at Mohg’s arena.
- Begin the quest before burning the Sealing Tree. That late-game event can end or alter unfinished NPC questlines, so complete the dialogue and summon preparations you want first.
St. Trina questline: quick checklist
- Talk to Thiollier at Pillar Path Cross and exhaust his dialogue.
- Get Black Syrup from Moore at Main Gate Cross.
- Give Black Syrup to Thiollier and choose the response indicating that you are weary of life to receive Thiollier’s Concoction.
- Trigger the event in which Miquella’s Great Rune breaks and the charm is dispelled.
- Return to Thiollier, exhaust his new dialogue, and let him announce that he is going south.
- Reach the Stone Coffin Fissure on the Southern Shore and defeat the Putrescent Knight.
- Find Thiollier and St. Trina in the Garden of Deep Purple.
- Use St. Trina’s Imbibe nectar interaction repeatedly. The deaths are intentional.
- Pass St. Trina’s words to Thiollier, exhaust his response, and complete the invasion sequence.
- Finish the remaining St. Trina dialogue before entering the final stretch, then use Thiollier’s summon signs in Enir-Ilim and at the DLC’s final boss.
1. Find Thiollier at Pillar Path Cross
Start in the eastern part of Gravesite Plain. Cross Ellac Greatbridge and follow the road toward the Miquella Cross near Castle Ensis. Thiollier is sitting beside the Pillar Path Cross Site of Grace.

Speak with him until his dialogue repeats. You can inspect or purchase items from his poison-related inventory if you wish, but the important requirement is exhausting his conversation. If he has more dialogue after a major story event, speak with him again rather than leaving the area after only one line.
2. Take Black Syrup from Moore to Thiollier
Travel to Main Gate Cross, outside Belurat, Tower Settlement. Speak with Moore there and he will give you Black Syrup to deliver to Thiollier.
Return to Pillar Path Cross and speak with Thiollier about the syrup. Exhaust the available conversation. When the dialogue offers a response expressing that you are weary of life, choose it. Thiollier will give you Thiollier’s Concoction and will also make additional doses available for purchase.
3. Wait for Miquella’s Great Rune to break
Continue through the DLC until the event announcing that Miquella’s Great Rune has broken and the charm has been dispelled. This is the progression milestone that changes Thiollier’s location and dialogue.
After the event, return to Pillar Path Cross and speak with Thiollier again. Exhaust every new line. He will explain that he is going south to search for St. Trina. If he has not moved or acknowledged the event, rest at the Site of Grace or reload the area and speak with him again.
4. Reach the Stone Coffin Fissure
The Stone Coffin Fissure is at the southern end of the Southern Shore. Enter the fissure and follow the route downward through the cavern. You will eventually reach the arena for the Putrescent Knight.

If you advanced Thiollier’s quest far enough, his gold summon sign can appear for this boss encounter. His summon is helpful but is not a substitute for completing the dialogue steps before or after the fight.

5. Defeat the Putrescent Knight
Defeat the Putrescent Knight at the bottom of the fissure. After the battle, continue into the nearby cave rather than treating the boss arena as the end of the quest area.
Activate the Garden of Deep Purple Site of Grace, then continue farther inside. Thiollier and St. Trina are located deeper in the garden area.
6. Speak with Thiollier and drink St. Trina’s nectar
Talk to Thiollier first and exhaust his dialogue. Then interact with St. Trina and choose Imbibe nectar.

The first major St. Trina message appears after four nectar deaths in this sequence. Do not stop after one or two deaths, and do not assume the quest is broken because the first interaction only sends you to the death screen.
7. Pass St. Trina’s words to Thiollier
Once St. Trina speaks, return to Thiollier and choose the dialogue option to pass on St. Trina’s words. He initially refuses to believe you and reacts with jealousy or hostility.
Exhaust all of his resulting dialogue. The message must be passed on more than once during the complete sequence, so keep speaking with him whenever a new response appears. If the conversation does not advance, rest or reload at the Garden of Deep Purple Site of Grace and check both characters again.
8. Trigger and defeat Thiollier’s invasion
After reporting St. Trina’s message and exhausting Thiollier’s response, return to St. Trina and imbibe the nectar again. Rest or reload at the Garden of Deep Purple Site of Grace if necessary.

Thiollier will then invade near the garden. Defeat the invader to receive St. Trina’s Smile, a talisman that increases attack power when sleep is triggered nearby.
After the invasion, return to the cave and speak with the injured Thiollier. Exhaust his dialogue before moving on.
9. Finish the final St. Trina dialogue
After speaking with the injured Thiollier, imbibe St. Trina’s nectar again. Continue repeating the interaction until you have heard all of St. Trina’s available message, then return to Thiollier and report her final words.
This final exchange is important. Completing the nectar and dialogue sequence is what enables Thiollier’s later summon signs. Do not burn the Sealing Tree or push deep into the endgame while Thiollier still has unexhausted dialogue if you want the full quest rewards and summon opportunities.

Once Thiollier’s St. Trina dialogue is complete, progress into Enir-Ilim. At the relevant late-game confrontation, his gold summon sign can appear for the battle against Needle Knight Leda. Summoning him also adds unique dialogue to the encounter.
Sir Ansbach may also have a summon sign available for the same battle, depending on how you handled the related NPC questlines. Ansbach’s availability is conditional; it does not mean Thiollier’s quest is incomplete if his sign is absent.
11. Summon Thiollier for the final boss
Thiollier can also be summoned for the DLC’s final boss if you completed his quest through the final St. Trina dialogue. Look for his gold summon sign in the final boss area before entering the fog.

Summon availability depends on reaching the appropriate late-game encounter and completing the required NPC state. If the sign does not appear, confirm that you defeated Thiollier’s invader, spoke with him afterward, completed the additional nectar interactions, and reported St. Trina’s final words before burning the Sealing Tree or advancing beyond the relevant area.

Why the quest may not be advancing
Thiollier has not moved south
Check that you triggered the Great Rune-breaking and charm-dispelling event, returned to Thiollier afterward, and exhausted every line of dialogue. Rest at the Site of Grace or reload the area, then speak with him again.
St. Trina is killing you without saying anything
Keep returning and choosing Imbibe nectar. The first death is supposed to happen, and the first major message does not appear until the required repeated interactions have been completed. The documented sequence places that message after four nectar deaths.
You drank Thiollier’s Concoction
That item is not St. Trina’s nectar. Return to the Garden of Deep Purple and interact directly with St. Trina. The correct prompt is Imbibe nectar.
Thiollier will not accept St. Trina’s words
Exhaust his initial refusal and any jealous or hostile responses. Then rest or reload and check him again. The message has to be passed on more than once as the sequence develops.
Thiollier’s invasion has not appeared
Confirm that St. Trina has spoken, that you reported her words to Thiollier, and that you exhausted his response. Imbibe the nectar again, then rest or reload at the Garden of Deep Purple Site of Grace before checking the area.
Thiollier’s late-game summon sign is missing
His sign requires the St. Trina dialogue sequence to be completed, including the final words after the invasion. Also check whether you burned the Sealing Tree before finishing the NPC steps. Related NPC quest choices can affect which other summons are available, but Ansbach’s absence alone does not explain a missing Thiollier sign.

Best order if you want every reward
- Finish Thiollier’s Pillar Path Cross and Black Syrup dialogue.
- Trigger the Great Rune-breaking event and send Thiollier south.
- Complete the Stone Coffin Fissure and Putrescent Knight encounter.
- Hear St. Trina’s words through the repeated nectar interactions.
- Pass the words to Thiollier, complete his invasion, and collect St. Trina’s Smile.
- Speak with the injured Thiollier, complete the remaining nectar interactions, and report the final words.
- Before burning the Sealing Tree, verify the summon signs and NPC dialogue you want to preserve.
- Use Thiollier’s sign for Leda and the final boss when available.
- After defeating the DLC’s final boss, return to St. Trina’s location for St. Trina’s Blossom and collect Thiollier’s remaining equipment through the post-boss sequence.

Do I have to die to St. Trina’s nectar?
Yes. The deaths caused by choosing Imbibe nectar are the intended progression mechanic. Return to St. Trina after each death and repeat the interaction. The first major message appears after four nectar deaths in the sequence.
Is Thiollier’s Concoction the same as St. Trina’s nectar?
No. Thiollier’s Concoction comes from the Black Syrup exchange and is a different item with different consequences. The St. Trina quest advances through the direct Imbibe nectar interaction at St. Trina’s location.
When should I complete St. Trina’s quest?
The safest approach is to complete the entire St. Trina and Thiollier sequence, including the invasion, final dialogue, and summon preparations, before burning the Sealing Tree. That event can end or alter unfinished NPC questlines.
Where can I summon Thiollier?
After completing the St. Trina dialogue, Thiollier can have summon signs for the Needle Knight Leda confrontation in Enir-Ilim and for the DLC’s final boss. The signs appear only at the relevant late-game encounters and can be affected by the current state of related NPC quests.
