GSC Game World’s August 13, 2025 roadmap put upgrading S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl to Unreal Engine 5.5.4 first. The studio expected the engine’s features and optimizations to improve stability and performance, but warned that the work could shift the timing of other updates. The accessible text does not list the individual features shown in the roadmap graphic, so those entries cannot be confirmed here.
What GSC said was coming
The official Q3–Q4 2025 roadmap, published August 13, 2025, covered both S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl and the Zone Kit Modifications Tool. Its clearest stated priority was an engine upgrade: “Our main mission in the near future is upgrading the game to Unreal Engine 5.5.4.” GSC said the engine’s features and tools, along with expected optimizations, could improve stability and performance.

That is a plan, not confirmation that every roadmap item shipped. GSC cautioned, “But this could shake up the timing of other updates,” and said it would do its best to meet its 2025 goals. The studio therefore presented the work as a priority while acknowledging that it could affect the update schedule.
Why the roadmap’s feature list cannot be verified from its text
GSC’s support page links to a roadmap graphic, but the individual rows in that image are not reproduced in the accessible article text. The text establishes the roadmap’s scope, the Unreal Engine 5.5.4 priority, its anticipated benefits, and the timing caveat; it does not provide a readable feature-by-feature list. Naming other planned features as confirmed roadmap entries would go beyond what the page text supports.

What later announcements add—and what they do not
GSC later described Update 2.0 as a major overhaul planned alongside the Cost of Hope expansion, with a significant engine upgrade and added features. The official Update 2.0 patch-notes page confirms that a patch-note record exists, but its available text does not allow a reliable item-by-item comparison with the 2025 roadmap graphic. These later materials should not be treated as proof of the graphic’s exact contents.
Cost of Hope is later context, too—not a confirmed entry in the 2025 roadmap. In a March 26, 2026 Xbox Wire announcement, GSC Brand Manager Mykyta Horodyvskyi said, “The development of the DLC started after the release of the main game.” The announcement describes new story content and identifies Iron Forest and the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant as two regions. It does not establish that the expansion appeared in the 2025 roadmap graphic.
