By the indicative refined-value figures in the Star Citizen Wiki’s mining reference, Quantanium ranks first, followed by Taranite and Bexalite. Those figures are reference values—not guaranteed current sale prices or a measure of profit per hour. Gemstones belong to a different activity: Hadanite and Dolivine are hand-mining resources, so they should not be treated as direct substitutes for ship-mined ores.

This is a ranking by the indicative refined values reported in the Star Citizen Wiki’s community-maintained Mining reference, accessed October 8, 2026. It is not a live market quote, and the reference does not establish that every material can be mined, refined, and sold under equivalent conditions.
RSI describes mining as a loop of scanning, fracturing, and extraction. Analyzing a targeted rock reveals its composition, resistance, and instability; those factors matter alongside a material’s listed value. The official overview is Mining Basics, updated June 8, 2026.

Where hand-mined gemstones fit
Star Citizen’s Mineral resources reference distinguishes ship-mined ores from hand-mining resources. Hadanite and Dolivine are gemstones associated with hand mining; the cited value list does not establish a current, same-basis price comparison for these gems against each other or against ship-mined ores.

That makes a single “best” ranking across ores and gemstones misleading. The ore table compares listed refined values. For gemstones, first consider whether you are equipped and positioned to hand-mine, then check current in-game values and local availability rather than assuming the ore ranking applies.
What to check before choosing a target
- Mining method and equipment: Confirm whether the resource is available to your intended method. Ship-mined ores and hand-mined gemstones are different activities.
- Composition and instability: Analyze the rock before fracturing. RSI’s mining overview identifies composition, resistance, and instability as information revealed by analysis.
- Location and patch: Deposits vary by location, and location references are version-specific. For example, the Star Citizen Wiki’s Daymar Starmap entry is marked 4.7.2 LIVE and includes Agricium and Quantainium deposit data; treat it as a location- and version-specific reference, not a promise about every patch or deposit.
- Quality: The community ore-quality reference gives a range of 245–1000 and labels its data as datamined during Alpha 4.9. That range is version-qualified community data, not a current guarantee of what a particular rock will yield.
- Operational costs and sale conditions: The available listed values do not account for travel, deposit concentration, refining outcomes, or sale conditions. A high reference value alone does not establish which target will pay best over a session.
How to use the numbers without overreading them
Use the table as a first-pass comparison of listed refined values, then evaluate the actual target and circumstances in game. In particular, Quantanium’s lead in the reference does not prove it is the most profitable choice for every miner or location. The sources establish relevant factors—method, rock composition and instability, location, quality, and listed value—but do not quantify a comparable profit-per-hour result for all ten entries.
