There are 35 Star Cores in Fallout 4’s Nuka-World add-on. You need 20 to complete the main Star Control objective; finding all 35 is optional and unlocks the Quantum X-01 armor display when Nuka-World’s power has been restored. Most cores are in the Galactic Zone, with five elsewhere in the park.
How many Star Cores do you need?
Star Cores are collectibles used by the Star Control mainframe in the Galactic Zone. Installing 20 satisfies the main Star Control objective. The remaining 15 are optional for that objective: collecting all 35 enables the Quantum X-01 power armor display, provided you have restored power to the park. Fallout Wiki’s Star Core entry describes the placements and rewards, while its Star Control quest entry covers the objective.
Star Core locations by area
Use this checklist to focus your search. Counts below total 35. Some locations require locked areas or combat, and the notes identify confirmed landmarks rather than a complete room-by-room route.
| Area | Cores | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Vault-Tec: Among the Stars | 6 | Search the Arcturus Prime display area, living room, irradiated room, and observation center. Some are behind locked doors. Three are in the observation center behind a Master-locked door; keys can be found through nearby locked areas. |
| RobCo Battlezone | 6 | Look for two in the control room overlooking the arena, one in the souvenir shop, one in the under-arena tunnels near a sentry bot, and two in the arena. Entering the arena triggers waves of robots. |
| Starlight Interstellar Theater | 4 | Check the damaged wall in the men’s restroom, the walk-in freezer, the theater console opposite the screen, and the upper-level control room. |
| Nuka-Galaxy | 7 | Search the boarding area and the ride interior. The boarding-area core is confirmed; the available location details do not specify every placement along the ride. |
| Galactic Zone grounds and Starport Nuka | 7 | Outside the attractions, check the ArcJet G-Force, Splashdown control booth, and Spacewalk console. In Starport Nuka, look beside a body near the mainframe and in a second-level display case. The upper-level core requires restored park power. |
| Elsewhere in Nuka-World | 5 | Find one near a cooler and dead traders south of Doc Phosphate’s Saloon in Dry Rock Gulch; one on a weapons workbench in the Nuka-Cade employee area; one on a Nuka-Town market table left of Shelbie Chase; one on the second level of the Nuka-World junkyard barn; and one by a dead Gunner near a metal double door in the World of Refreshment’s Quantum bottling area. |
The distribution is also grouped as 6 Vault-Tec, 6 RobCo Battlezone, 4 Starlight, 7 Nuka-Galaxy, 7 Galactic Zone grounds, and 5 elsewhere in a 2016 RPGuides location guide.

Use the mainframe to find the areas you missed
If you have collected some cores but cannot find the rest, check Starport Nuka’s terminal entries for location-specific remaining-core counters. The mainframe’s readout can narrow the search to the areas that still have cores rather than requiring you to retrace every attraction. See the Starport Nuka terminal entries.
Park power and the final core
Restoring Nuka-World’s power matters for the optional full-set reward: the upper-level Starport Nuka core is power-gated, and the Quantum X-01 display requires park power as well as all 35 cores. You can complete the main objective with 20 without collecting that final core.
