Creators can now use these programs subject to each partner’s eligibility and brand rules—and their payout terms differ.
What Epic announced—and what actually launched
At State of Unreal on June 3, 2025, Epic announced new licensed intellectual-property options for Fortnite creators. These were tools and assets for building creator-made experiences, not simply Battle Royale cosmetics. Epic said Squid Game content would arrive June 27, with island publishing to follow later that summer. It also previewed Star Wars features, templates, and assets for a future release, and said Avatar: The Last Airbender was planned for the following year. Epic’s announcement and event recap describe the original timeline.

The subsequent rollout pages clarify the dates: Squid Game assets became available in Fortnite Creative and UEFN on June 27, 2025, and creators could publish themed islands starting August 14, 2025. Star Wars creator tools were announced live on April 1, 2026, and Epic scheduled Star Wars island publishing through the Creator Portal for May 1, 2026. The 2025 Star Wars preview was not the launch date. Epic’s Squid Game creator guidance and Star Wars rollout announcement provide the later dates.
What can creators build with UEFN?
Squid Game
Epic’s Squid Game package includes themed templates and devices for building islands in Fortnite Creative and UEFN. The assets let creators make experiences inspired by the series within the supplied licensing and brand rules. Their availability does not mean every island will be featured, distributed to a particular audience, or earn revenue.

Star Wars
Epic describes its Star Wars offering as templates, tools, gameplay features, and curated characters, locations, vehicles, and weapons. These are intended for creator-made islands, with publication handled through the Creator Portal. Creators must follow Star Wars Brand Rules; the license is not permission to use Star Wars material outside the program.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Avatar: The Last Airbender was part of Epic’s June 2025 forward-looking announcement, which described it as coming the following year. The cited rollout information here does not establish a launch date or current asset availability, so creators should check Epic’s current creator pages before planning an Avatar project.

How do the creator terms compare?
Epic’s published terms are partner-specific. The figures below are the engagement payout shares allocated to the intellectual-property partner, not the creator’s share of overall island earnings. Transaction support is the point where Epic’s own pages conflict for Star Wars.
| Program | Assets and publishing | Partner engagement payout share | In-island transactions | Eligibility and rules |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Squid Game | Assets available June 27, 2025; themed islands publishable from August 14, 2025, according to Epic’s rollout guidance. | 15% to Netflix, according to Epic’s IP Partner Licensing Program schedule and Squid Game guidance. | Unsupported, according to Epic’s Squid Game guidance and licensing schedule. | Creators must meet relevant creator-program requirements, opt into additional licensing terms, and follow Squid Game brand and creator rules. |
| Star Wars | Tools announced April 1, 2026; publishing through the Creator Portal scheduled from May 1, 2026, according to Epic’s launch announcement. | 20% to the partner, according to Epic’s licensing schedule. | Epic’s schedule lists a 30% in-island transaction share, but its Star Wars launch announcement says Star Wars islands do not support in-island transactions. The official pages conflict; confirm current Creator Portal terms before relying on transaction eligibility. | Creators must follow Star Wars Brand Rules; consult the current Creator Portal terms for program requirements. |
Epic’s Star Wars launch page says in-island transactions are not supported, while its licensing schedule lists a 30% transaction share. These statements do not establish whether support changed or whether the pages apply in different circumstances. Verify the current terms in the Creator Portal rather than assuming transactions are available. The licensing schedule is also subject to change.

- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

What do creators need to do before publishing?
- Check the current Creator Portal requirements for the specific IP and confirm that the account meets the relevant creator-program criteria.
- Review and opt into any additional licensing terms required for the branded island.
- Read and follow that partner’s brand and creator rules while building and presenting the island.
- Before relying on a payout or transaction feature, check the current IP Partner Licensing Program schedule and the program’s launch guidance. For Star Wars transactions, resolve the conflicting official statements with the current Creator Portal terms.
- Submit and publish through the applicable Fortnite creator tools and Creator Portal process. A licensed template or asset does not guarantee featuring, distribution, or revenue.
What did Epic report about Fortnite’s creator ecosystem?
In its June 3, 2025 event recap, Epic said players had spent more than 11.2 billion hours across 260,000 live creator-made islands, and that $722 million had been paid to third-party creators. These are figures Epic reported at State of Unreal in 2025; the cited recap does not present them as independently audited totals. They describe the wider creator ecosystem, not expected results for any particular licensed island.
