What is the critic score for Battlefront Classic Collection?
Metacritic’s all-platform page lists a 58 Metascore from 18 critic reviews, classified as “Mixed or Average.” The recorded reviews are evenly divided: six positive, six mixed, and six negative. That split indicates a polarized response rather than a consensus clustered around the middle. See Metacritic’s all-platform listing.
The separate PC critic reviews page reports a 65 from eight reviews. Treat it as a platform-specific snapshot, not as the score for every version. Metacritic’s scores and review counts can change as its listing is updated; these figures were accessed on October 8, 2026.
Why did critics disagree?
What reviewers liked
Positive and favorable mixed reviews highlighted the appeal of returning to the original games, their old-school shooter battles, and the amount of included content. For players who want to revisit the 2004 and 2005 titles on current platforms, the collection offers familiar gameplay and offline modes, with split-screen also noted in PC review coverage.

What reviewers criticized
Negative reviews and critical mixed reviews pointed to bugs, multiplayer problems around launch, and a small number of meaningful changes beyond bringing the games together. Some criticism also concerned value at the listed launch price. These are recurring themes in the cited review sample, not claims that every critic raised the same objections.
What is included in the collection?
The official announcement describes a package containing Star Wars Battlefront (2004) and Star Wars Battlefront II (2005), along with previously released bonus content. Its feature list includes campaigns, Galactic Conquest, online play advertised for up to 64 players, and Hero Assault on all ground maps. The publisher’s feature description is not an independent assessment of how well those features perform.

What did Aspyr say about launch multiplayer issues?
In a support update dated March 19, 2024, Aspyr said that “At launch, we experienced critical errors with our network infrastructure. The result was incredibly high ping, matchmaking errors, crashes, and servers not appearing in the browser.” The post said the team was working to address the problems and increase stability, and noted that Patch I had been released on Steam. This documents the developer’s account of launch conditions; it does not establish the state of online service now. Read Aspyr’s support update.
