What did Casey Hudson say about a release before 2030?
In a social-media post quoted by Push Square on December 13, 2025, Hudson addressed rumors that the game would not arrive until 2030: “Don’t worry about the ‘not till 2030’ rumors. Game will be out before then. I’m not getting any younger!” Push Square reported the statement.
That rules out 2030 or later according to Hudson’s assurance, but it does not establish a scheduled release date. It should not be read as confirmation of a 2028 or 2029 launch.

What is known about the game so far?
- Genre and format: A single-player action RPG with a new story.
- Setting: The end of the Old Republic era, with the player taking the role of a Force user.
- Developer: Arcanaut Studios, working in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games; Hudson is the game director.
- Development stage: Early development. In the official StarWars.com interview, Hudson said, “We’re still early in development, with many challenges ahead.”
- Connection to Knights of the Old Republic: Lucasfilm Games executive Douglas Reilly said it is not a direct sequel or continuation of Knights of the Old Republic. It is a new story drawing on the tradition of deep, cinematic, choice-driven role-playing games.
Why “before 2030” is not a release window
A release window normally identifies a period players can plan around, such as a year or season. Hudson’s comment provides only an outer limit: the game is expected before 2030, according to his post. With development still described as early, there is no public basis for narrowing that assurance to a particular year.
GameSpot also reported on December 15, 2025 that no concrete release date had been announced and described development as early. GameSpot’s report aligns with the distinction between Hudson’s broad comment and an official launch schedule.
