Before racing on Sentinel 1, prioritize avoiding its acid pools: they erode vehicle durability and can stop your Ramjet from working. Shields are described as increasing resilience, but available coverage does not establish that resilience specifically reduces acid damage. Treat it as a plausible defensive choice—not a proven counter or an optimal build.
What Sentinel 1’s acid pools do
Space.com’s Hayes Madsen reports that Sentinel 1’s toxic wasteland reduces vehicle durability and that acid pools can stop the Ramjet from working. The directly supported response is to steer clear of the pools when you can; the coverage does not quantify the damage or say how long the Ramjet interruption lasts. Space.com’s October 2, 2026 preview describes the hazard.
Does resilience protect against acid?
A PlayStationTrophies.org review describes shields as providing “greater resilience,” while also listing Ramjet and turning upgrades. That is a secondary review’s description of shields; it does not confirm that resilience reduces acid damage. Preview coverage also mentions parts that provide elemental resistances, but does not identify a Sentinel 1 acid-resistance part or quantify its effect. The review’s upgrade description should therefore be read as a general resilience benefit, not proof of acid protection.
If you are choosing an upgrade before the race, shields are a reasonable defensive option when survivability is your concern. But do not assume they neutralize the acid: the available descriptions do not compare shields with elemental-resistance parts on Sentinel 1. Check the in-game part and upgrade descriptions, and favor an explicitly stated hazard resistance if one is available.

Balance defense against the way you drive
Surviving contact with hazards is only one part of getting around the course. Space.com distinguishes the vehicle classes by how they handle; the right trade-off depends on whether you value cornering, top speed, or carrying momentum through turns.

These are general class characteristics, not Sentinel 1 performance measurements. A vehicle that is easier for you to steer around hazards may matter more than a theoretical resilience advantage that has not been established.

Practical pre-race priorities
- Plan a line around acid pools. Avoidance is the clearest supported way to prevent the durability loss and Ramjet interruption described for Sentinel 1.
- Choose upgrades for the benefit they actually state. Shields are described as increasing resilience, and parts may offer elemental resistance; neither description alone proves a specific reduction in acid damage.
- Pick a vehicle that fits your cornering control. Favor the class whose speed and steering trade-offs you can manage through the course rather than choosing on top speed alone.
- Use other race tools as appropriate. Space.com notes selectable skills such as autopilot, a landmine, and turbo burst, but its coverage does not establish which is best for Sentinel 1.
