Some Stardew Valley players on Xbox have reported co-op disconnects and crashes, often around sleeping, saving, or joining a session. The reports are concerning, but they do not establish a confirmed game-wide Xbox problem: they are individual accounts, with no published figure showing how many players are affected or a confirmed cause.
What Xbox players are reporting
The reports describe several symptoms that should not be treated as one confirmed bug. In one Xbox Series X forum post, a player said that version 1.6.15.1 disconnected with the message “Server has closed the connection,” particularly shortly after sleeping and saving. Other players have described co-op connection losses or crashes around the same part of a day, as well as problems while loading or joining.
Some players say they had to replay a day or feared losing progress. Those accounts describe individual experiences; they do not show how frequently progress loss occurs across Xbox players. The official bug-report forum also lists separate Xbox-filtered reports for co-op desynchronization, multiplayer connection failures, crashes, crop watering, missing pets, and other issues. A report appearing in the forum is not, by itself, an official diagnosis or evidence of prevalence.
Is this a confirmed Xbox 1.6.15.1 bug?
There is not enough published evidence to call the reports a confirmed bug affecting Xbox players generally. The forum posts do not establish one root cause, a representative number of affected players, or that every Xbox player is experiencing a problem.

The Series X player who reported the “Server has closed the connection” error said it continued after attempts including reinstalling the game, clearing cache, testing network settings, and changing hosts. A forum participant identified as Console Developer asked how long after sleeping the disconnection occurred. That follow-up shows the report received a response, but it is not a public confirmation of the cause or a fix. The attempts described by the player should not be treated as guaranteed troubleshooting steps.
What the official 1.6.15.1 patch says
ConcernedApe’s console patch post, dated February 12, 2025, says: “This patch addresses several issues on console versions of the game, and syncs up the content with the latest on PC.” The 1.6.15.1 changelog lists specific crash fixes and other bug fixes. It does not document a fix for the co-op disconnections described in later 2026 forum posts, and the available reports do not confirm that a later update resolved them. What to do if the issue happens to you
No cited source establishes a single reliable workaround. Before reporting the problem, capture enough detail to distinguish a crash from a connection loss and to help others understand when it happens:
- Your Xbox model and the game version shown on your console.
- The exact error text, if one appears.
- Whether you were playing alone or in co-op, and whether you were host or guest.
- What you were doing when it happened: joining or loading, sleeping, saving, or another action.
- Whether the game closed, the session disconnected, or you returned to an earlier point in the day.
The game’s official bug-report section is intended for non-modded bug reports and provides an Xbox filter. Search for a similar report and add useful details there, or submit a new report if the symptoms do not match an existing one. Open the official bug-report forum.

Online multiplayer access requirement
The Xbox Store listing describes online co-op for 2–4 players and says console online multiplayer requires Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate, sold separately. That is an access requirement for online play, not a remedy for the reported disconnects. Check the Xbox Store listing.
