Open the Hand Scanner, turn until its circle distorts, then walk in that direction and scan again as needed. The distortion leads to Temple Eta, where you collect the Anti-Gravity Field power. If the visual cue does not appear, use the scanner to find an “Unknown” location instead.

Reach the Scanner Anomaly
“Follow Distortions on the Scanner” begins after the artifact investigation and your conversation with Vladimir at The Eye. Select Into the Unknown as the active mission and follow its marker to the Scanner Anomaly landing site. Open the planet map, choose the marked anomaly landing target, and land.
Bethesda’s walkthrough uses Procyon III and Temple Eta as its example, but notes that locations may vary between playthroughs. Follow your active mission marker rather than relying on fixed coordinates from another player’s run. Bethesda’s Into the Unknown walkthrough

Follow the scanner distortion
- Open the Hand Scanner. On PC, press F; on Xbox, press LB; on PlayStation, press L1. Bethesda calls this Survey mode in its Power From Beyond guide.
- Turn slowly and watch the scanner circle. Rotate through a full turn until the circle visibly distorts. You may also hear static-like interference.
- Face the distortion and move forward. Scan again as you travel; the circle’s distortion points toward the source, so adjust your direction when it shifts.
- Continue toward the location marker. A temple marker appears when you get close enough. Follow it to the temple entrance.
If the visual distortion does not appear
Bethesda Support’s fallback is to use the scanner normally and look for locations marked “Unknown.” The temple is typically east or west of the landing point, according to Bethesda, but that is a general hint—not a guaranteed direction or fixed coordinate. Scan the surrounding area and travel to an Unknown marker that appears to be a temple. The visual distortion is helpful, but you can continue the objective without it.

Complete Temple Eta
Inside Temple Eta, the low-gravity room contains bright light clusters that appear one at a time. Move through each cluster quickly. Keep pursuing the lights as they appear until the central ring forms a portal, then pass through it to receive the Anti-Gravity Field power.

Return to the Lodge and speak with Vladimir. Demonstrate the Anti-Gravity Field when prompted. If the two concurrent missions are still marked incomplete, Bethesda’s walkthrough says to choose the specific follow-up dialogue option offered by Vladimir; that interaction ends this mission step.
