Its listed changes covered the Creation Kit, performance and stability, visuals, and selected gameplay fixes. Bethesda’s later live-update notes were for version 1.14.70, released September 30, 2024.
What was in Starfield update 1.14.68?
The beta notes, reproduced in a Steam community post dated September 17, 2024 that links to Bethesda’s original notes, listed these changes:
- Creation Kit: Automated generation of distant level-of-detail (LOD) models became available.
- Creations: A problem limiting the number of loaded Creations to 255 was fixed.
- Performance and stability: The notes reported general improvements.
- Lighting and weapon visuals: Lighting enhancements and fixes to weapon models were included.
- Character and camera behavior: Player headtracking after dialogue was improved, and a camera change was intended to prevent jostling when jumping.
- Combat: The Annihilator Particle Beam’s damage-over-time effect no longer affected companions, and EM weapons could damage robots and turrets.
- Crafting: A fix was listed for The Boom Pop!
The Steam post also names the ship builder, UI, vehicle, quests, locations, gameplay, and Creation Kit as affected categories. The available item descriptions do not specify every change in those areas, so further fixes cannot be confirmed from the listed notes.
Was 1.14.68 the public update?
No. Version 1.14.68 was explicitly labeled a beta on September 17, 2024. Bethesda’s subsequent release notes, dated September 30, were for version 1.14.70 and described fixes for quests, the REV-8, and the ship builder, along with performance, stability, lighting, and weapon-model work. Those notes also introduced Shattered Space as Starfield’s first story expansion. These are changes and context for 1.14.70, not additional items to attribute to the 1.14.68 beta.

Is Starfield update 1.14.68 still the latest?
No. Bethesda’s news index lists later updates, including version 1.16.242 in May 2026 and version 1.16.244 on June 11, 2026. Version 1.14.68 is therefore a historical beta build, not the current update.
The notes do not establish an official download-size figure for 1.14.68, so “sizable” should not be read as a measured download size.
