status_object.dll is a legacy application DLL associated with Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone Monitor, not a normal Windows component. When status_object.dll is missing or cannot be loaded, repair or remove the Sony Ericsson phone software that is requesting it rather than copying a downloaded DLL into a Windows folder.
The file is identified as “status_object Module” and is associated with Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB. Reported records place it under:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
C:Program FilesSony EricssonMobile2Mobile Phone Monitor
That location matters. status_object.dll should not normally be installed in C:WindowsSystem32, C:WindowsSysWOW64, a temporary folder, or a random download directory.
Before fixing the error
Do not download status_object.dll from a random DLL website. An isolated file may contain malware, have the wrong architecture, come from a different build, or still fail because another companion file is missing. It also leaves the damaged Sony Ericsson installation unresolved.

The safest order is:
- Identify the program that launches the error.
- Repair or reinstall Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone Monitor or PC Suite.
- Check antivirus quarantine.
- Remove obsolete Sony Ericsson software and its startup entry if you no longer use it.
- Use Windows repair commands only when there is separate evidence of Windows corruption.
Reported catalog metadata describes this as a Win32 or x86 DLL. The version and size shown in older catalogs are not confirmed against a current Sony Ericsson installer, so do not use catalog metadata alone to select a replacement file.
Fix 1: Identify the Sony Ericsson program requesting the DLL
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
First determine whether the error appears when you launch a Sony Ericsson utility or immediately after Windows starts.
Check the error context
- Note the full message. It may say that
status_object.dllwas not found, is missing, is corrupted, or could not be loaded. - Close the message and check whether the program name appears in the title bar.
- Open Task Manager by pressing
Ctrl+Shift+Esc. - Select Startup apps.
- Look for entries containing:
- Sony Ericsson
- Mobile Phone Monitor
- Mobile2
- PC Suite
- Right-click a matching entry and select Open file location, if available.
If the path leads to a Sony Ericsson directory, you have likely found the parent application. If the file location is unavailable, right-click the entry, choose Properties, and inspect the executable path.
Check installed programs
- Press
Windows+R. - Type
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - Look for Sony Ericsson PC Suite, Mobile Phone Monitor, or another Sony Ericsson phone-management entry.
- Select the entry and note whether Repair, Change, or Uninstall is available.
On newer Windows versions, also check:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Search for
Sony Ericsson.
If the program is still installed, repair or reinstall it instead of replacing only the DLL.
Fix 2: Repair or reinstall Sony Ericsson PC Suite
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
This is the most likely fix when the phone software is still needed.
Sony Ericsson PC Suite was distributed with Sony Ericsson phones and was installed from supplied media or Sony Ericsson support downloads. Use the original phone CD if you still have it. If not, use an installer obtained from a source you can verify and trust. There is no currently verified official download for this exact legacy DLL by itself.
Try the built-in repair option
- Press
Windows+R. - Type
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - Select the Sony Ericsson PC Suite or Mobile Phone Monitor entry.
- Select Change, Repair, or Modify, if offered.
- Follow the installer prompts.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch the Sony Ericsson application again.
A successful repair should start the phone software without the status_object.dll message. If the repair option is missing or fails, continue with a clean reinstall.

- Do not delete the folder yet if it contains phone data or settings you still need. Back up relevant data first.
- Run the original installer using Run as administrator:
- Right-click the installer.
- Select Show more options if necessary.
- Select Run as administrator.

- Select Apply, then run the installer again.
Compatibility mode may allow the old interface to install, but legacy phone drivers may still be unsupported on current Windows. Do not disable security protections broadly just to force the installation.
If reinstalling the full suite does not work, the error may name a second missing dependency. Record that filename before trying another fix.
Fix 3: Check antivirus quarantine and protection history
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
Security software may have quarantined or deleted the DLL. This is especially relevant if the error began after a security scan or an antivirus update.
Windows Security
- Open Start.
- Type Windows Security and open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving:
status_object.dll- Sony Ericsson
- Mobile Phone Monitor
- Read the detection details and file path.
Restore the file only when all of these are true:
- The original file was inside the expected Sony Ericsson installation directory.
- The Sony Ericsson installer or original installation media is trusted.
- The detection is understood and not an unresolved malware warning.
- A current security scan does not identify the installation as unsafe.
If the file came from a temporary folder, a browser download directory, or an unrelated application folder, do not restore it. Remove the suspicious copy and reinstall the complete Sony Ericsson package from trusted media.
After restoring a quarantined file, restart Windows and test the application. If the antivirus immediately quarantines it again, stop restoring it and investigate the detection. Reinstalling the complete application is safer than repeatedly restoring one DLL.
Fix 4: Remove obsolete Sony Ericsson software and its startup entry
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
If you no longer use a Sony Ericsson phone or PC Suite, restoring the DLL is usually unnecessary. The startup error is often caused by a leftover launcher that still runs after the main program has been removed.
Uninstall the software
- Press
Windows+R. - Type
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - Select the Sony Ericsson software.
- Select Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
If it does not appear there:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Open Installed apps or Apps & features.
- Search for Sony Ericsson.
- Uninstall each clearly related entry.
Disable a remaining startup entry
- Press
Ctrl+Shift+Esc. - Select Startup apps.
- Select any clearly identified Sony Ericsson or Mobile Phone Monitor entry.
- Select Disable.
- Restart Windows.
If the error still appears, inspect Task Scheduler:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Open Start and search for Task Scheduler.
- Open Task Scheduler Library.
- Review tasks that clearly reference Sony Ericsson or Mobile Phone Monitor.
- Right-click a clearly obsolete task and select Disable.
- Do not disable unrelated Microsoft tasks.
If you are comfortable checking startup registry entries, use Registry Editor only after creating a restore point and exporting any key you change. Do not delete an entry merely because its name is unfamiliar. The safer first choices are the installed-program removal and Task Manager startup controls.

The repair worked when Windows starts without the DLL message and no Sony Ericsson process tries to launch. If the message continues, identify the executable named in the error or use the startup location that launches it.
Fix 5: Check the file path, architecture, and signature
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
A legitimate copy should be part of the application installation, not a file that appeared independently.
Check the path
- Open File Explorer.
- Browse to the Sony Ericsson installation directory.
- Search for
status_object.dll. - Right-click the file and select Properties.
- Check the General tab for its location.
- Open the Details tab and review the description and publisher fields.
The expected reported location is:
C:Program FilesSony EricssonMobile2Mobile Phone Monitor
A copy in System32, SysWOW64, a temporary directory, or an unrelated program folder deserves additional scrutiny. Scan it with Windows Security before opening or copying it.

Check digital signatures
- In the file’s Properties, open the Digital Signatures tab if it exists.
- Select the signer.
- Select Details.
- Confirm whether Windows reports that the digital signature is valid.
- If no signature is present, do not automatically assume the file is malware. Legacy software may lack a signature, but provenance and location become more important.
- Run a custom scan on the file and its parent folder.
The available records identify the developer as Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB. Older component metadata also attributes copyright to Teleca Software Solutions AB, but these catalog details are not a substitute for verifying the installer or binary.
Do not copy between system folders
A 32-bit application generally needs its 32-bit dependencies even when it runs on 64-bit Windows. That does not mean you should place the file in SysWOW64. System32 and SysWOW64 are protected Windows locations, not general-purpose storage for application DLLs.
Install the complete application into its intended directory. A DLL placed beside the wrong executable may still fail because other companion files or registry settings are missing.
Fix 6: Determine whether another dependency is actually missing
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
The message “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that status_object.dll itself is absent. Windows may be unable to load it because a dependency used by that DLL is missing.
- Confirm that
status_object.dllexists in the Sony Ericsson program directory. - Launch the application again and record every filename in the error.
- Check Event Viewer:
- Press
Windows+R. - Type
eventvwr.mscand press Enter. - Open Windows Logs.
- Select Application.
- Look for an error at the time of the failed launch.
- Note whether the event names a different DLL.
If the second filename begins with MSVCP or VCRUNTIME, the application may require a Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package. Microsoft’s documentation explains that the redistributable architecture must match the application. For this legacy Sony Ericsson component, the available evidence does not establish that a Visual C++ package is normally required, so install one only when the new error specifically identifies that runtime.

Do not install DirectX, .NET, a graphics driver, or multiple runtime packages merely because status_object.dll is missing. There is no evidence that those components normally provide this file.
Fix 7: Repair Windows components only when Windows itself is damaged
Time needed: 15–45 minutes
SFC and DISM repair Windows components and protected Windows files. They do not normally recreate a missing Sony Ericsson application DLL.
Use this step when you also have Windows instability, damaged system components, failed updates, or errors involving genuine Windows files.

- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:

- Test the Sony Ericsson application again.
A successful DISM and SFC run may report that corruption was repaired or that no integrity violations were found. If the status_object.dll message remains, return to the Sony Ericsson repair or uninstall steps. Windows repair commands are not a substitute for reinstalling a third-party application.
Repeatedly running SFC and DISM without identifying what changed usually adds time without replacing an application-owned file. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for system problems and show what needs attention, while its repair functions require the full version; reinstalling Sony Ericsson software remains the definitive fix for this application DLL.
Fix 8: Update or reinstall related drivers only when the error names one
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
status_object.dll is not identified as a Windows hardware driver. Use Device Manager only if the Sony Ericsson installer reports a phone, USB, modem, or driver failure separately.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Connect the phone only if Windows recognizes it safely.
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand categories such as:
- Portable Devices
- Universal Serial Bus controllers
- Modems
- Network adapters
- Look for a warning icon or a device named Sony Ericsson.
- Right-click the relevant device and select Properties.
- Open the General tab and read the device status.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Select Update Driver and choose Search automatically for drivers.
- If the device remains broken, select Uninstall device, restart Windows, and reinstall the driver from the complete trusted phone-software package.
Do not replace a working graphics, chipset, or storage driver just because the DLL error appears. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and show which driver needs attention, while driver installation through the full version is optional; it does not replace reinstalling the Sony Ericsson suite when that suite owns the missing DLL.

Time needed: 20–40 minutes
System Restore is appropriate when the error clearly began after a recent uninstall, cleanup operation, driver change, or software installation and a suitable restore point exists.
- Press
Windows+R. - Type
rstrui.exeand press Enter. - Select Next.
- Choose a restore point created before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs, if available.
- Review the results.
- Select Next, then Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
System Restore may remove a recent application or driver but does not guarantee recovery of an old third-party DLL. If the error returns, reinstall or remove the Sony Ericsson software instead.
Common causes of the error
| Likely cause | What usually resolves it |
|---|---|
| Sony Ericsson software was partially uninstalled | Reinstall the complete PC Suite or Mobile Phone Monitor package |
| The DLL was damaged or deleted | Repair or reinstall from trusted original media |
| Antivirus quarantined the file | Review quarantine, scan the source, and reinstall if needed |
| A startup entry survived an uninstall | Remove the old program and disable its startup task |
| Program files were moved or cleaned | Restore the original directory or reinstall |
| A 32-bit application is missing its x86 dependency | Install the complete application, not a DLL in a system folder |
| Another dependency is missing | Identify the second filename in the error or Event Viewer |
| Windows system files are damaged | Update Windows, then run DISM followed by SFC |
| The software is obsolete | Uninstall it rather than restoring a file you no longer need |

Which program needs status_object.dll?
The strongest available identification points to Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone Monitor, commonly associated with Sony Ericsson PC Suite and phone-management software. Public evidence does not establish one uniquely named PC Suite installer for every occurrence.
Should I copy it into System32?
No. Copying an application DLL into a Windows directory can create a path mismatch, architecture problem, or security risk. Repair the parent application instead.
Should I run regsvr32 status_object.dll?
Usually not. regsvr32 works with self-registering DLLs and ActiveX controls that expose the required registration entry point. It is not a general DLL repair command. If the command reports that DllRegisterServer was not found, that is expected for a DLL that is not self-registering.
Is the file 32-bit or 64-bit?
Available catalog metadata describes it as Win32 or x86. The practical fix is to reinstall the complete application so its executable and dependencies match. Do not install copies in both system directories.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Why did the error appear after uninstalling Sony Ericsson software?
The main program may have been removed while a startup entry, scheduled task, or helper executable remained. Remove the remaining Sony Ericsson entry instead of restoring the missing DLL.
Is the file malware?
The filename alone does not prove that. Check its path, provenance, signature when available, and antivirus results. A copy in a random download or temporary directory should be scanned and treated cautiously.
What if I still need the phone software but cannot find the installer?
Look for the original phone CD, documented installation media, or a trustworthy archived installer. Avoid isolated DLL downloads. Legacy drivers may not function correctly on modern Windows, even if the main application installs.
What if the error names another DLL?
Treat that filename as a separate diagnosis. A message mentioning MSVCP*.dll, VCRUNTIME*.dll, or another module may indicate a missing runtime or dependency. Do not assume every missing filename comes from Windows or from Sony Ericsson.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
When should I use SFC or DISM?
Use them when Windows itself shows signs of component corruption. They are secondary diagnostics here and will not normally restore a missing Sony Ericsson DLL.
