How fishing works in Steal a Brainrot
Fishing is an hourly event, not a permanent activity in the normal Steal a Brainrot loop. When the event starts, the lobby changes into an underwater-themed area and the fishing rod becomes usable. Watch the central Event Board or the fishing-rod indicator so you know when the next event is about to begin.

The basic loop is simple: equip a rod, charge and cast, wait for a bite, then rapidly click or tap to reel in the Brainrot before the progress bar empties. Catches are sent to your base, so valuable catches also need to be protected from other players.

How to fish: step-by-step
- Join or stay in a server. Fishing is tied to the Fishing Event, so leaving the game to search for a permanent fishing spot is unnecessary.
- Watch the Event Board or rod indicator. These are the most useful in-game signals for the next event window.
- Equip your rod when the event begins. Every player can use the free Starter Rod. Previously purchased rod upgrades are reported to return in later Fishing Events rather than requiring a new purchase each hour.
- Move to a ground-level area and cast. Community guides report that fishing works around the map, including near your base and the Collect Zone. Because catches are delivered to your base, fishing near an area you can monitor may be practical.
- Charge the cast meter. Hold the mouse button on desktop or use the touch control on mobile and tablet. Release near the top of the meter if you can, but do not treat one exact position as a guaranteed odds threshold. No verified probability formula has been published for the cast meter.
- Wait for a bite. Once a Brainrot bites, the reel phase begins.
- Reel rapidly. Click with M1 on desktop or tap repeatedly on a touchscreen to fill the reel bar. If the bar reaches zero, the catch escapes.
- Check your base after a successful catch. The Brainrot is reported to appear there, where it can become available for purchase or stealing. Use the game’s ordinary base-security mechanics instead of assuming a fresh catch is automatically protected.

Best fishing rod progression
New players: use the Starter Rod
Do not delay your first Fishing Event while saving for an upgrade. Use the Starter Rod to learn both minigame phases and earn normal game currency. The important early objective is to complete as many casts as possible during the event and build toward your first Rebirth requirement.
Early progression: Frozen Rod
Save toward the reported $2.5 million Frozen Rod and reach 5 Rebirths. It raises Cast Luck from 1.5x to 2x and is the first reported upgrade. Because the exact conversion from Cast Luck to catch probability is unknown, view it as a general improvement in your attempts at better catches, not as a guaranteed rarity breakpoint.
Mid progression: Fiery Rod
At 10 Rebirths and the reported $5 million price, the Fiery Rod raises Cast Luck to 3x. It is the middle step in the current four-rod table. Continue fishing actively rather than waiting for alleged hotspots; more competent casts and more successful reels give you more practical opportunities than an unverified location theory.
End progression: Radioactive Rod
The reported top rod is the Radioactive Rod, requiring 15 Rebirths and $10 million, with 4x Cast Luck. It is the strongest choice for players pursuing high-rarity entries, but it still does not guarantee a Secret, Brainrot God, or any particular Brainrot.

Radioactive Fishing Event and mutations
The Fishing Update is also associated with a Radioactive Fishing Event variant. In that version, the water reportedly turns neon green and catches may receive the Radioactive mutation.
The available research confirms the variant’s existence but does not establish its exact schedule, mutation odds, or whether every aquatic Brainrot can receive the mutation. Consequently:

Do fishing hotspots actually improve your odds?

- Release the cast meter consistently. Aim near the top, but prioritize a repeatable rhythm over pixel-perfect timing.
- Start reeling immediately. The reel bar drains, so do not wait after the bite appears.
- Use the strongest legitimately unlocked rod. Cast Luck improves your chances according to the reported progression, but does not eliminate randomness.
- Monitor the base after catches. A rare catch is not useful if another player steals it before you secure it.

Fishing troubleshooting
The rod does not work
Check whether the Fishing Event has actually started. Fishing is not reported to function as a normal always-available activity outside the event. Look at the Event Board or rod indicator, then equip the rod again when the event begins.
I cast successfully but catch nothing
Make sure you released the cast control rather than continuing to hold it, and wait for the bite prompt. A near-top cast is a practical recommendation, not a guaranteed catch trigger.
The Brainrot escaped
The reel bar reached zero. During the next attempt, begin clicking or tapping as soon as the bite occurs and maintain a steady rapid rhythm. The goal is to keep the bar from draining completely.

My catch is missing
Check your base, where successful catches are reported to appear. Also check whether another player has interacted with it; catches are not automatically assumed to be immune from the game’s normal stealing mechanics.
The game stutters or clicks do not register on Windows
