To make Stealth in Diablo II or Diablo II: Resurrected, put Tal and then Eth into a body armor with exactly two sockets. The runeword requires character level 17. The armor type, socket count, and rune order all matter: this recipe does not work in a helm, shield, weapon, or armor with a different number of sockets.
Stealth runeword recipe and rune order
- Find a body armor with exactly two sockets.
- Insert Tal into the first socket.
- Insert Eth into the second socket.
Use the runes in that order: Tal + Eth. The character level requirement for the completed Stealth armor is 17. D2Runewizard and d2db list the same recipe, base type, and level requirement.
What Stealth gives you
Stealth has these fixed modifiers:
- +25% Faster Run/Walk
- +25% Faster Cast Rate
- +25% Faster Hit Recovery
- +6 to Dexterity
- +15 to Maximum Stamina
- Regenerate Mana 15%
- Poison Resist +30%
- Magic Damage Reduced by 3
The movement, casting, and recovery bonuses make it a useful early-game option for many characters. D2Runewizard describes it as starter armor commonly used through Nightmare and into early Hell; that is a guide’s general assessment, not a rule for every build.
Choosing a two-socket armor base
Pick a body armor your character can equip, with strength requirements and mobility in mind rather than defense alone. Stealth itself does not add defense, so a heavier base is not automatically better. Wowhead’s guide recommends Breast Plate or Light Plate as practical options; Light Plate may be harder to find around the level when players typically make Stealth.

Before inserting either rune, verify that the item is body armor and has exactly two sockets. A wrong base or socket count will not produce Stealth.
Where to find Tal and Eth
Wowhead lists both runes among Normal-level runes and names the Countess and Hellforge in Normal and later difficulties as possible sources. Its route notes also list Secret Cows and Act III Normal onward for both runes, and the Act V Rescue on Mount Arreat quest as an additional Tal source. These are possible acquisition routes, not guaranteed drops on a particular run.

Current third-party item listings report Stealth for Diablo II: Resurrected, Lord of Destruction, and the “Original – Current” patch range; D2Runewizard also lists no Ladder-only restriction for D2R and Reign of the Warlock. d2db says its cheat sheet is updated for D2R — Reign of the Warlock. These are third-party listings rather than a Blizzard patch note specific to Stealth, so check the current game mode and patch if eligibility for a particular release is important. The legacy Arreat Summit runeword reference documents historical expansion-set context, but should not be treated alone as confirmation of current D2R behavior.
