Valve announced the feature on December 18, 2024; it is a year-in-review, not a live December playtime tracker.
What Steam Replay 2024 shows
Valve’s Steam News announcement describes Replay as a personalized look back at what each user played during 2024. The recap includes game counts, achievements, longest streak, playtime by month and device, and graphs showing playtime by genre. Eligible Steam Families can also see activity across the family. Engadget additionally reports that the recap includes games and demos played and Steam Deck playtime.

For context, Engadget reported that Valve’s 2024 median Steam user played four games and unlocked 13 achievements. Those are medians for Steam users in 2024, not averages or figures about all gamers.
How to compare Balatro playtime with friends
Valve says users can share their Replays on and off Steam and view friends’ Replays. Engadget framed the feature as a way to compare Balatro playtime with friends. In practice, that means comparing the game time shown in your respective year recaps; Valve’s announcement does not describe a dedicated Balatro-only comparison screen or automatic side-by-side tool.

Where to find your Steam Replay
Engadget reports that Steam Replay can be accessed through the Steam app, Steam Deck or the web. A Steam Community guide points users to store.steampowered.com/replay and describes sharing or downloading the recap. Your personal page requires Steam account access; the web page prompts unauthenticated visitors to sign in.
The Community guide’s wording about sharing or downloading is a user guide, not official support documentation, and its labels may not match the current interface exactly. Valve’s announcement confirms sharing in general but does not document exact menu labels or a privacy-settings path.

What dates does the 2024 recap cover?
Steam Replay is a retrospective rather than a running tally of every day in December. A Steam Community discussion quotes the in-product FAQ as saying the 2024 period ran from January 1 through December 14 GMT. Because that cutoff comes from a user quoting the FAQ rather than a directly available official FAQ page, treat the exact end date as reported rather than independently confirmed.
