A separate March 9 promotion in 2026 involved Crowalt: Traces of the Lost Colony. Neither offer is still active as of August 18, 2026, and neither game is a conventional pirate adventure.
Which game was free on Steam?
If the headline was published in early 2025, the game was Isle of Jura. The 2022 title from EM Games temporarily dropped from its reported regular price of about $10 to $0 on Steam, with the promotion ending March 9, 2025. The offer was for the full game, not a demo or a free-to-play launch. ComicBook’s report described the promotion and its dates.

The wording is easy to confuse with a later deal. In March 2026, Crowalt: Traces of the Lost Colony was free on Steam until March 9, 2026. It is a 2022 pixel-art point-and-click adventure developed by Macraft Studios and associated with publisher GrabTheGames. Its story follows an investigation into the disappearance of the Roanoke colonists, rather than a traditional pirate campaign. ComicBook and VGTimes covered that offer.

Isle of Jura is built around fishing, collecting and exploration. Players visit Jura Island, catch more than 50 fish species using three fishing techniques, find artifacts, speak with residents and complete a biology assignment at their own pace. It does not match the usual meaning of a pirate game: there is no evidence in the supplied coverage that it is a combat-focused seafaring adventure.

Crowalt is even farther from that description. It uses pixel-art presentation and point-and-click puzzles, with players finding, combining and using items while investigating a historical mystery set in 1737. The “pirate” label appears to be a loose or inaccurate search description, not a reliable way to identify either promotion.

- Sign in to a Steam account.
- Open the correct game’s official Steam store page.
- Select the option to add or install the game while the page lists its price as free.
- Confirm that the title appears in the Steam library.
- Install it immediately or download it later.
Those steps should not be treated as a current claim method. Both March 9 deadlines have passed. The live Steam store page is the decisive source for present pricing and availability, so a normal price, unavailable listing or missing free-claim button means the promotion has ended or the wrong title is open. Steam’s broad “pirate” search is not enough to identify the game.

Could people keep the game?
These promotions should be distinguished from free weekends and free-to-play releases. A game claimed during a free-to-keep promotion is generally attached to the Steam account, while a free weekend can remove access when the event ends. Free-to-play games remain free to download but may contain optional purchases.

The 2026 coverage explicitly said that users who claimed Crowalt during its offer could keep it in their Steam libraries permanently. The available 2025 coverage confirms that Isle of Jura was obtainable for $0 during the promotional week, but does not establish permanent ownership as clearly. Anyone who may have claimed either title should check the Steam library before attempting to buy it again. Ownership is separate from installation.

Crowalt: Traces of the Lost Colony
- Genre: Pixel-art point-and-click adventure
- Developer: Macraft Studios
- Publisher associated with the promotion: GrabTheGames
- Release year: 2022
- Setting: A 1737 investigation into the missing Roanoke colonists
- Reported length: Roughly three to five hours, according to the cited coverage
The March 2026 reporting described the game as having approximately 80% approval and a “Very Positive” Steam rating at the time. Ratings and review counts can change. Steam Deck compatibility was reported as “Unknown,” which means the listing did not verify support; it does not prove that the game cannot run on the device.
The free promotion applied to the Steam version. Reports said the Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S versions were not free at that time, so claiming a Steam license would not automatically provide a console copy.

Is either game still claimable?
No. The Isle of Jura giveaway ended March 9, 2025, and the Crowalt giveaway ended March 9, 2026. As of August 18, 2026, late readers should not assume either title can still be added for $0. Check the relevant Steam listing for its current status, and check your library if you claimed the game during the applicable promotion.
The most important details are the year and the exact title: “March 9” referred to two different Steam promotions, and “pirate game” does not accurately describe either one.
