Steam’s Redesigned Store Homepage Has Rolled Out to Everyone: What Changed

Steam’s redesigned Store homepage moved from beta to a general rollout in June 2026, adding personalized deals, a release calendar, richer recommendations, and more.

Steam’s redesigned Store homepage is no longer just a beta test. Valve began testing it in the Steam Client Beta on April 1, 2026, then rolled it out to all users on June 5, according to PC Gamer’s rollout coverage. The update changes how the Store presents games and recommendations; it is not a ground-up redesign of the entire Steam client.

What changed on the Steam Store homepage?

The refreshed homepage is wider and more responsive, with higher-resolution artwork and a more cohesive arrangement of sections. Valve’s stated aim was to make it easier to find games by presenting more content and information. Its announcement of the refreshed homepage and coverage of the April beta describe these changes:

  • More detailed recommendations: Featured and Recommended listings provide more context, including why a game is recommended and a roundup of user reviews.
  • More personalized deals: The home page includes discounts on games in your wishlist and discounted DLC for games you own.
  • A release calendar: Upcoming games are surfaced according to a user’s interests and Steam activity.
  • More prominent artwork and motion: Discounts and Events use larger artwork, while hovering over some items can show micro-trailers. The beta report said users could disable that feature, but the final release’s current controls are not established here.
  • A Discovery Queue overlay: The queue opens over the home page rather than sending you to a separate page.
  • More scrolling: The homepage uses infinite scrolling, allowing sections to continue below the initial screen.

The wider layout is intended to make better use of higher-resolution monitors. The practical effect is also a more visually dense page: larger artwork and additional modules mean there may be more to scan and scroll through.

How the release calendar and Popular Upcoming differ

The personalized release calendar and the Popular Upcoming section offer different routes to games that have not launched yet. The calendar is tailored to a user’s interests and Steam activity, while the default relevance-oriented Popular Upcoming view is meant to surface releases attracting the most anticipation.

Valve Steam Deck OLED 1TB Handheld Gaming Console
  • 1TB NVMe SSD
  • 1280 x 800 HDR OLED display with premium anti-glare etched glass, 7.4" Diagonal display size up to 90Hz refresh rate
  • Wi-Fi 6E
  • 50Whr battery; 3-12 hours of gameplay (content-dependent)
  • Carrying case with removable liner

That distinction matters for smaller games. Developers told PC Gamer that the default Popular Upcoming view appeared to favor releases with substantially more existing buzz than they expected. Valve said it updated the section in response to player feedback to better represent the most anticipated games coming in the next month. Users can also choose release-date sorting, which changes how the list is ordered.

Some developers reported that the personalized calendar helped smaller games attract wishlists. That is a useful counterpoint, not proof that the calendar consistently increases exposure: its ranking, the effect of a user’s preferences and activity, and the results for any particular game are not established as universal. The available developer reports describe varied experiences rather than a measured platform-wide change in impressions, wishlists, or sales.

What Steam users may notice—and what could be frustrating

For players, the most practical additions are easier-to-spot wishlist deals, DLC discounts for owned games, and a personalized view of upcoming releases. More recommendation context can help explain why a title appears, and the overlay keeps the Discovery Queue within the browsing flow.

The trade-offs are mostly about presentation and discovery. Infinite scrolling can make the Store feel less structured; large panels and motion can add visual clutter. Personalization may also show more games similar to what a player already likes, potentially narrowing the range of discoveries. New or infrequent users may have less activity and preference history for those personalized areas to draw on.

Visibility can vary by account, region, language, wishlist, library, preferences, and activity. A player may find the page more convenient while a developer worries about appearing less often in a particular section. Neither reaction alone establishes that the refresh improves or reduces overall game discovery.

What the redesign does not cover

The 2026 update is principally a Store homepage refresh. It should not be read as a redesign of the Library, checkout, Workshop, community features, or every individual game page.

Valve Steam Deck 1TB Upgraded Handheld Gaming Console with Carring case, 1280 x 800 OLED Display Silicone Soft Cover Protector & Joystic Cap & Tempered Glass Film Bundle
  • Valve is entering the gaming console marketplace with the new Steam Deck, a console geared towards PC gamers. The Steam Deck can be docked to a monitor, and used as a PC, or docked to a TV.
  • Players can play a huge variety of games at any time with the comfort of a console and the freedom of a PC. Not anti-glare screen.
  • Like the name suggests, the Steam Deck will include upgraded 1TB storage, and will include a carrying case. A micro SD slot will also enable expanded storage.
  • Valve partnered with AMD to create a specialized APU optimized for handheld gaming, and Valve says the chip will deliver performance to run AAA gaming titles.
  • The Steam Deck is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, and two trackpads under the control sticks that allow gamers to operate games never designed outside of mouse and keyboard capabilities.

Steam’s Store has seen other changes, but they are separate updates. In 2025, Valve introduced a redesigned Store menu in the Steam Client Beta, combining former navigation areas and adding expanded search and reorganized browsing options; Valve’s announcement describes that work. The menu update and the 2026 homepage refresh are related parts of Store modernization, not one all-encompassing client redesign.

Do you need the Steam beta to see the new homepage?

No. The beta participation steps applied during the April 2026 test; the reported June 5 rollout made the refreshed homepage generally available. If your Store still looks out of date or appears broken, try these standard checks. They are troubleshooting suggestions, not stated prerequisites for the redesign:

  1. Restart the Steam client.
  2. Let Steam finish any pending client updates.
  3. Compare the desktop client with the Steam Store website, since presentation can differ by platform or account state.
  4. If the page looks visibly stuck or corrupted, clear Steam’s web browser data.

Joining the beta should not be necessary just to access the refreshed homepage.
