Its headline change is a manufacturer-rated maximum of up to 54 hours of battery life, while the headset retains simultaneous 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth audio. The US launch MSRP was $199.99 for each model. The family includes standard Nova 7, PlayStation-oriented Nova 7P, and Xbox-oriented Nova 7X versions, so check the platform suffix before buying. The Gen 2 does not add active noise cancellation (ANC).
What changed in the Nova 7 Gen 2?
This is an endurance and convenience refresh, not a wholesale redesign. SteelSeries keeps the Nova 7 family’s dual-wireless approach and adds longer claimed battery life, fast charging, and app-based sound presets. HotHardware describes the overall design as familiar to the previous generation. The available launch coverage does not establish a major change in sound quality.
SteelSeries’ October 14, 2025 announcement lists three models, black, white, and magenta color options, and a US launch MSRP of $199.99 per model.
How long does the battery last?
SteelSeries’ launch announcement rates the headset for up to 54 hours of wireless use and says a 15-minute USB-C charge can provide up to six hours of playback. The current standard Nova 7 product page uses the less precise wording “50+ hour battery” or “50-hour battery life.” These are manufacturer claims; the 54-hour figure is a launch maximum, not a guaranteed result in every setup.

#1 Best Overall
- REAL-TIME GAME AUDIO CONTROL — Pinpoint enemies with what GamingTrend calls “the biggest cheat code in the industry. 200+ game specific audio presets to choose from
- IMPROVED 50H+ BATTERY LIFE — Over 40% more charge than the previous generation, plus optimized USB-C Fast Charge
- SIMULTANEOUS 2.4GHZ + BLUETOOTH — Mix game and mobile audio
- PLUG-&-PLAY USB-C — Unlock 2.4GHz cross-platform gaming with the portable wireless dongle. USB-A adapter included

SteelSeries says the battery improvement is 40% over the previous generation. HotHardware compares the new rating with about 38 hours for the original Nova 7. Neither the launch announcement nor the cited coverage provides an independent standardized runtime test. Heavy microphone use, high volume, Bluetooth activity, software processing, and other conditions can affect actual runtime. HotHardware also reports a lower estimate of roughly 38 hours when 2.4GHz and Bluetooth audio are used simultaneously; treat that as the outlet’s estimate, not a universal official specification.
What does simultaneous wireless audio do?
The headset can receive game audio over low-latency 2.4GHz wireless while staying connected to a phone over Bluetooth. That lets a player hear mobile audio, a call, or other phone sound without disconnecting from the game. It is a practical feature for people who game while taking calls or use mobile chat alongside console or PC audio.

This is audio mixing, not two independent headsets. Call handling, microphone routing, game/chat balance, and controls may vary with the selected platform and connection. The feature is described in SteelSeries’ launch announcement and product page.
Which Nova 7 Gen 2 model should you choose?
| Model | Best starting point | Buyer note |
|---|---|---|
| Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Gen 2 | PC and general multi-device use | Check the exact console and wireless requirements if you plan to use it beyond PC. |
| Arctis Nova 7P Wireless Gen 2 | PlayStation | See the Nova 7P product page and verify the features you need on each additional device. |
| Arctis Nova 7X Wireless Gen 2 | Xbox | Xbox buyers should prioritize the 7X rather than assume the standard or 7P version has identical console functionality. See the Nova 7X product page. |
SteelSeries lists USB-C plug-and-play support across devices including PC, PlayStation, Xbox depending on model, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Mac, VR headsets, handhelds, and mobile devices. A USB-C-to-USB-A adapter is included. Compatibility and available features depend on the variant, device, and connection method; a physical USB-C port alone does not guarantee every feature works identically.

Audio, microphone, and software features
- Drivers: SteelSeries lists custom-designed neodymium magnetic drivers and 360-degree spatial-audio support.
- Sound tuning: The company advertises more than 200 EQ or audio presets through the Arctis mobile app. Presets and deeper tuning are software-dependent rather than a change to the headset’s physical design.
- PC software: SteelSeries GG and Sonar provide PC-specific options such as application routing, EQ, and microphone processing. Those PC controls should not be assumed to be available on consoles.
- Microphone: The retractable ClearCast Gen 2 microphone is described as noise-rejecting; SteelSeries also advertises Sonar AI processing for PC users. Microphone noise rejection helps limit environmental sound picked up for other people. It is not ANC and does not block room noise from reaching the wearer.
- Fit and controls: The listed features include lightweight steel construction, an elastic support band, and on-ear volume, mute, and ChatMix controls.
What does it lack?
The Nova 7 Gen 2 does not have active noise cancellation, according to HotHardware’s launch coverage. That matters if you want the headset to reduce ambient noise for you. Its noise-rejecting microphone addresses what other people hear from your surroundings, not what you hear in the room.
It also is not positioned as a base-station headset, and the available sources do not establish a swappable-battery system. If ANC, a base station, or replaceable batteries are priorities, compare the Nova 7 Gen 2 against models that explicitly offer those features rather than assuming its battery capacity substitutes for them.

Nova 7 Gen 2 versus the original Nova 7
| Feature | Nova 7 Gen 2 | Original Nova 7 |
|---|---|---|
| Battery rating | Up to 54 hours in SteelSeries’ launch announcement; current product page says 50+ hours. | About 38 hours, as cited by HotHardware. |
| Fast charge | SteelSeries says 15 minutes provides up to six hours of playback. | Not stated in the cited sources. |
| 2.4GHz and Bluetooth | Yes, including simultaneous audio, according to SteelSeries. | Dual wireless is a core feature retained from the previous generation, according to launch coverage. |
| Software and tuning | SteelSeries advertises 200-plus app presets and PC Sonar support. | Previous Nova software ecosystem; comparable preset count not stated in the cited sources. |
| ANC | No, according to HotHardware. | ANC not indicated in the cited sources. |
| Launch price | $199.99 US MSRP, announced October 14, 2025. | HotHardware places it in the same general mid-range price class; an exact launch price is not stated in the cited sources. |
For an existing Nova 7 owner, the clearest reason to upgrade is the longer claimed runtime, with app convenience as an additional draw. The dual-wireless concept is familiar, so a working original headset may not warrant replacement if its battery still meets your needs.
Who is it for at the $199.99 launch price?
The $199.99 figure is the US launch MSRP announced in October 2025, not a verified current street price. Current retailer pricing is not established here.
Recommended Free Tools
- Good fit: Multi-device players who want game and phone audio at once, dislike charging frequently, and value a single headset across a mix of PC, console, handheld, and mobile setups.
- Less compelling: Owners of a healthy original Nova 7 who do not need more runtime, buyers whose first requirement is ANC, and shoppers seeking a base station or swappable battery.
- Consider another category: If gaming flexibility matters less than wired listening, single-platform use, or a lower purchase price, the Nova 7 Gen 2’s extra wireless features may not justify its launch MSRP for you.
Use the platform suffix as the first filter, then decide whether the long battery rating and simultaneous mobile/game audio justify the price for your setup. SteelSeries’ launch details are in its announcement; product-specific details are on the Nova 7, Nova 7P, and Nova 7X pages.
