What does Roblox require on a Mac?
Roblox currently lists macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later as the minimum operating-system requirement for the Roblox client. Roblox also recommends at least 300 MB of available system storage for installation. These requirements describe compatibility and installation space, not guaranteed game performance. Check the official Roblox hardware and operating-system requirements before publishing or troubleshooting on a newly released or prerelease macOS version, because newer systems may not be supported immediately.
To check your macOS version, choose Apple menu > About This Mac. To check available storage, open Apple menu > System Settings > General > Storage on newer macOS versions. Older macOS releases may show storage through About This Mac > Storage.

How do you install Roblox Player on a Mac?
The normal Roblox Player installation begins on the official Roblox website, after you sign in and open any Roblox experience.
- Open an official Roblox page. Use Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or another modern supported browser, and go directly to the official Roblox download page or Roblox website. Avoid third-party installer sites.
- Sign in to Roblox. Log in to the account that you want to use for playing Roblox experiences.
- Open any experience. Choose an experience page on Roblox. Roblox’s support instructions say: “Upon logging into Roblox, visit any experience and click on the green Play button.”
- Click the green Play button. Roblox should display an installation pop-up or begin the Player download. Follow the on-screen installer prompts. The exact dialog wording and screen design may change as Roblox updates its website and macOS support.
- Allow the installer to finish. Wait for the downloaded Roblox installer to complete before trying to open another experience.
- Click Play again. Return to the experience page and select Play again. If the browser asks which application should open the Roblox link, choose Roblox and confirm. If the browser offers a remember-choice option, enable it if you want Roblox links to open without asking every time.
Roblox documents the sign-in, experience, and green Play-button flow in its official installation and play instructions. The official download page also labels its Mac option Download Mac App.

What is the difference between Roblox Player and Roblox Studio?
Roblox Player is the application used to play Roblox experiences, while Roblox Studio is a separate creator application used to build and publish experiences. A Mac user who only wants to play Roblox does not need Roblox Studio.

Why will Roblox not download or launch on a Mac?
If Roblox will not install or start, begin with the least disruptive fixes and use the official Roblox installation flow again.
- Restart the Mac. A restart can clear a temporary browser, installer, or application-state problem.
- Close other applications. Quit unnecessary programs before reinstalling or updating Roblox, especially applications that may interfere with downloads or system resources.
- Retry through Safari. Sign in to Roblox through Safari, open an experience, and select the green Play button to trigger the installation again.
- Open the installer manually if necessary. If installation does not start automatically, open Finder and look in the relevant downloaded files for Roblox.dmg, then open the disk image and follow the prompts.
- Reinstall Roblox. If the problem continues, use Roblox’s official Mac reinstall instructions and then trigger installation again from an experience page.
- Contact Roblox Support if the failure remains. Include the Mac model, macOS version, exact error message, Roblox username, and the steps that reproduce the problem. Roblox’s support guidance also covers persistent application and Studio installation issues.
These steps do not resolve every failure. Network restrictions, security software, browser permissions, account problems, corrupted downloads, and unsupported operating-system versions can require separate diagnosis. Roblox’s general Studio troubleshooting documentation confirms that Roblox Application and Studio install on macOS 10.13 High Sierra and later, while persistent problems may require reinstalling or support assistance.

What should you do if macOS blocks the Roblox installer?
If macOS displays a security warning, first confirm that the installer came from Roblox’s official website and that the downloaded file is the expected Roblox installer. Do not bypass a warning for an installer obtained from an unfamiliar third-party site. If the official installer continues to be blocked, record the exact macOS message and contact Roblox Support with your macOS version and Mac model rather than making unsupported security changes.
How should you verify that Roblox installed correctly?
Roblox has installed correctly when selecting Play on an experience page opens Roblox Player and the experience begins loading. If the browser repeatedly asks which application should open the Roblox link, select Roblox and use the browser’s remember-choice option when available. If the prompt returns after every attempt or nothing opens, restart the Mac and follow the reinstall path above.
The Bottom Line
For Roblox Player, use the official Roblox website, sign in, open an experience, and click the green Play button. A Mac must run macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later, with Roblox recommending 300 MB of available storage. Roblox Studio is separate and requires macOS 10.14 or later with at least 3 GB of RAM.
