Mike Flanagan’s series adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on October 7, 2026, with all eight episodes releasing that day. The phrase “near-perfect” is not supported by a review score or critical consensus in the official release information; it should be read as opinion, not a measured rating.
What is Stephen King’s new Prime Video series?
It is the first television-series adaptation of Carrie, King’s debut novel. Amazon’s October 2026 Prime Video lineup describes Carrie White as a misfit high-school student who, after her father’s death, enters public high school and confronts bullying, social-media cruelty and the emergence of telekinetic powers.
The series is an Amazon MGM Studios production. Mike Flanagan is its writer and showrunner, and he executive produces alongside Stephen King. King’s official series page credits Flanagan with directing episodes 101, 102, 107 and 108.
When does Carrie premiere, and how many episodes are there?
Carrie is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on October 7, 2026. Amazon’s distributed announcement says all eight episodes release on that date; RTÉ also describes it as an eight-episode reinvention premiering October 7.

Is the series actually “near-perfect”?
That description is subjective. The official release and series pages establish the premiere, episode count and creative credits, but they do not provide a review score or demonstrate broad critical consensus. Amazon’s announcement calls the adaptation “a bold, timely, and surprising reinvention of this classic coming-of-age story”; that is promotional language, not an independent assessment.
