Stern Pinball’s King Kong: Myth of Terror Island is a four-flipper pinball machine offered in Pro, Premium and Limited Edition (LE) versions. What is King Kong: Myth of Terror Island?
Announced by Stern on April 15, 2025, King Kong: Myth of Terror Island is a physical pinball release based on the classic King Kong story. Stern’s synopsis follows Ann Darrow, Jack Driscoll and Karl Denham to Terror Island before bringing Kong to New York City. Stern describes it as a pinball-specific retelling, rather than simply a screen adaptation. The project’s original art is credited to Kevin O’Connor, Greg Freres and Jeremy Packer, known as Zombie Yeti. Stern credits Brian “Q” Quinn, Rick Zieff, Peter Mackenzie and Scott Mosenson for custom speech. The game also uses Stern’s Insider Connected platform for progress tracking, game-specific achievements, community features and quests; Stern says it can deliver ongoing code updates. Stern describes the game as a four-flipper adventure. Its announced features turn parts of the story into targets, routes and multiball mechanics. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent play impressions.

- Kong and the gong: A custom animated Kong figure and a shootable gong bash target anchor the island action.
- Kong multiball: A New York City train-car feature starts Kong multiball.
- The Pit: A magnetically active area is guarded by a giant spider.
- Air and river routes: A helix-shaped biplane ramp, secret river ball path and river log diverter provide distinct ball paths.
- Temple and cave features: Lost Temple drop targets lead into a Kong Cave scoop and vertical up kicker.
- Kong’s counterattack: A punch-back kicking target is designed to send the ball back into play.
Stern also lists original animations, music, sound, speech and art. Its King Kong feature matrix provides an official specification reference, but does not substitute for independent testing.
