For a practical Star Trek Fleet Command (STFC) faction rep grind, start with Five of Eleven as captain, Ghalenar as first officer, and Harry Kim as second officer. The STFC.club crew-library preset also recommends placing The Doctor and Alonzo Freeman below deck and farming the highest-level survey hostiles you can handle. Treat this as a roster-dependent starting lineup, not a proven universal best: the preset does not compare every ship, officer rank, or player level.
Recommended bridge crew and setup
The STFC.club “Hostiles – Reputation Grinding” preset (database version v2.42.1) lists this bridge crew, with each officer at minimum rank 2:

The preset recommends targeting the highest-level survey hostiles for the biggest reputation gain. Choose targets your ship can defeat and sustain efficiently; the source does not provide a measured reputation-per-hour rate or a head-to-head test against other crews. See the STFC.club reputation-grinding preset.
When Phellun may help
Scopely’s 11 October 2024 announcement says Phellun fully unlocks at Syndicate level 46. Assigned to the bridge, his “Call a Professional” ability gives a positive reputation increase for Federation, Klingon, and Romulan standing, starting at 50% and scaling up to 400% with progression. Scopely does not say that every player has access to him or that he replaces the preset crew in every situation. Check his current in-game ability text before planning around it, since the published details are from 2024.

Placement matters: Scopely says Phellun assigned below deck boosts protected cargo instead, rather than providing the bridge reputation benefit described in that announcement. His level 47 passive loot boost for non-armada hostiles is a separate effect, not a reputation bonus. Details are in Scopely’s Phellun announcement.
Other ways to gain faction reputation
Hostile grinding is not the only route. Scopely’s faction guidance names missions, faction events, and faction traders as reputation sources alongside defeating opposing faction hostiles. The Federation help page describes faction traders as efficient for their level because they grant large reputation amounts, but it does not specify a universal rate. The Klingon guidance also recommends reputation Exocomps during farming.

- Missions: faction missions can grant standing; pay attention to choices, which may affect reputation.
- Hostiles: defeating opposing faction ships is one listed route. For the crew preset above, the suggested targets are high-level survey hostiles.
- Events and traders: Scopely lists faction-specific events and faction traders as additional options.
- Reputation Exocomps: the Klingon help guidance specifically recommends using these during farming.
These are official route recommendations, not a promise of a particular amount or rate for every faction, event, or player. See Scopely’s Federation faction help and Klingon faction help.
Plan around faction losses and locks
Federation, Klingon, and Romulan reputation can rise or fall with your actions. Scopely cites choosing the wrong side in a mission and killing a faction’s ships in its space as examples of actions that can change standing. A grind plan should therefore account for the factions you want to build, the ships you attack, and the choices you make along the way.

Scopely’s help page lists five reputation locks for these three major factions. Once you reach a lock, reputation cannot fall below that threshold:
| Lock milestone | Reputation threshold |
|---|---|
| First lock (Respected tier) | 10 million |
| Second lock | 1 billion |
| Third lock | 15 billion |
| Fourth lock | 500 billion |
| Fifth lock | 450,000 billion (450 trillion) |
These are useful planning milestones if you intend to shift effort between major factions: reaching a lock protects that faction’s standing from dropping below it. Scopely describes Augment, Outlaw, and Bajoran reputation differently; those reputations do not use these faction locks, and the page says they cannot be lowered. The published lock values come from Scopely’s help page, last updated approximately 293 days before its October 2026 access; confirm in-game if an exact current threshold is critical. See Scopely’s faction reputation and lock guidance.

Choose a grind that fits your roster
- If you have the three bridge officers at rank 2 or higher, use the STFC.club preset as a practical starting point and add The Doctor and Alonzo Freeman below deck if available.
- If you have Phellun, compare the bridge reputation ability with the rest of your crew needs; the official announcement establishes its effect, not that it is always the best substitution.
- If your ship cannot reliably defeat high-level surveys, choose a sustainable hostile target rather than treating the preset’s target advice as a requirement.
- Before switching factions or attacking ships in faction space, consider how the action could affect standing and whether you have reached a lock.
- Use missions, events, traders, or the Klingon-recommended Exocomps when they fit your progression better than repeated hostile battles.
No cited source establishes a controlled comparison or a universally optimal lineup across player rosters, ships, levels, and balance changes. Your best practical crew is the one that combines the available reputation bonuses with targets you can clear consistently while protecting the faction standings you care about.
