STFC Update 61 was released on 5 December 2023, continuing the “Make it So” story arc and adding Section 31, Wave Defense, the Facade building, new officers and missions, ship refits, and a Battle Simulator. It is a historical update, not the latest one: Scopely’s news listing showed Update 95.3 on 1 October 2026. The old patch notes describe what was announced in 2023; they do not establish which features, rewards, or values remain unchanged today.
When did STFC Update 61 come out?
Scopely published its Update 61 patch notes on 5 December 2023. The notes say the update continued the “Make it So” arc. They are the best reference for what Update 61 introduced, rather than a guide to the game’s current balance or event schedule. Read Scopely’s Update 61 patch notes.
Update 61 is not current. Scopely’s official news listing showed Update 95.3 Haven Patch Notes, dated 1 October 2026. That later listing confirms the version gap, but does not say whether Update 61 features are still available or have been rebalanced.
What did STFC Update 61 add?
The update’s central additions were a Section 31 faction and store, Wave Defense, the Facade building, Fleet Commander Luther Sloan, new officers and missions, two refits, and a Battle Simulator. The table separates the main features by how the patch notes described access and rewards.

How did Wave Defense and the Facade work?
In the patch notes’ description, Wave Defense was a location-defense activity undertaken for Section 31. The Facade was its key access point: Scopely said the building unlocked access to Wave Defense and to the Section 31 faction store, with availability at Operations Level 30.
The notes also listed Facade bonuses of up to 2,000% base weapon damage against Wave Defense hostiles, 2,250% base hull health, and 500% base officer stats. Those are figures Scopely published for the building in December 2023, not independently verified current values. The building was also described as providing resources for Armada Quick Start. The notes do not establish whether these functions or bonuses are unchanged in the current game.

How could players get Luther Sloan?
Update 61 introduced Fleet Commander Luther Sloan, called “the Man of Secrets” in the patch notes. His three skill trees were organized by function:
- Tactician: combat-focused buffs.
- Mechanic: ship-power and progression buffs.
- Escapist: utility buffs.
Unlike the other Fleet Commanders referenced in the notes, Sloan used skill points obtained from the Section 31 faction store. His shards could also be obtained there through Wave Defense participation. These are the acquisition details announced for Update 61; the notes do not confirm present-day availability or requirements.

- Each campaign has about 60 individual missions that feature greater context, flexibility, and impact on the fate of your empire.
- Metaverse is available for online play. There are two new races in addition to the original six: the savage Mirak Star League and the Interstellar Concordium, which aims to enforce peace at any cost.
- New ships are available, including escort vessels, patrol craft, and fighters, bringing the total variants to more than 1,000.
- A new fleet interface makes for easy target monitoring and allows fleets to operate as a single unit or for individual ships to move autonomously.
Which officers, missions, and refits were included?

December 2023 Buff Events
Three Buff Events were listed for December 2023. Their dates are historical and should not be treated as a current schedule.
| Event | Listed date | Format and duration |
|---|---|---|
| Armada Hunt | 9 December 2023 | SLB/ALB; the notes listed a buff lasting 48 or 72 hours, depending on the event |
| Precious Prospecting | 16 December 2023 | SMS; the notes listed a buff lasting 48 or 72 hours, depending on the event |
| The Great Hunt | 23 December 2023 | SMS; the notes listed a buff lasting 48 or 72 hours, depending on the event |
The patch-note summary does not map each event to a specific duration, so no one event should be assigned a 48- or 72-hour duration from that summary alone.
What should players know about Update 61 today?
Use Update 61 notes as a record of what Scopely announced in December 2023, not as confirmation of current access, balance, or rewards. The official news page’s October 2026 Update 95.3 listing establishes that the game has moved well beyond Update 61; the available official information does not settle the present status of this older update’s individual features.
