Gods With Badges is a narrative tactics game from Strange Scaffold about a disgraced police officer navigating institutional pressure and moral choices in a dystopian future city. Gematsu reported an expected 2027 release for PC via Steam, although the Steam page currently lists its release date as “To be announced.”
What is Gods With Badges?
Developed and published by Strange Scaffold, Gods With Badges is a single-player strategy game that mixes patrol and investigation with branching dialogue and isometric, turn-based combat. Its stated focus is law-enforcement power, social dynamics and institutional pressure—not a claim to be a conventional police simulation.
The story follows Harrow McClellan, a disgraced officer sent back to her original post in Scarhelm, a dystopian city of the future. The scandal that drove her away has become a law-enforcement legend, shaping how people respond to her return.
How does the gameplay work?
Patrol and investigation
Players move through open hubs, responding to civic and criminal complaints, delivering tickets, seizing contraband and searching for evidence. The work is also a way to encounter the people and institutions that shape life in Scarhelm.

Dialogue, force and tactical encounters
Conversations and decisions—including arrests and uses of force—affect relationships with fellow officers, the public and surrounding institutions. When a situation escalates, play shifts to isometric, turn-based combat, with features such as taking cover and rescuing hostages. The announcement frames choices about force and how to handle a crisis as part of the story’s moral ambiguity.
The body-camera choice
Harrow can temporarily turn off her body camera. According to Gematsu’s announcement report, doing so opens some tactical and dialogue options but removes the public record of what happens afterward. That makes the mechanic a choice about both immediate leverage and accountability.

What is the project’s connection to Hard Justice?
Gods With Badges began as Artificer’s unrealized project Hard Justice. Strange Scaffold is reinterpreting its foundations and development materials, and associates the project with its Project Share initiative. Strange Scaffold studio head Xalavier Nelson Jr. described it as “among the most ambitious things Strange Scaffold has ever undertaken,” citing its production circumstances and desire for cultural impact, in a statement reported by Gematsu.
When does Gods With Badges come out, and what platforms are confirmed?
Gematsu reported on October 8, 2026, that Gods With Badges is due in 2027 for PC via Steam. The Steam store page, accessed the same day, gives no specific date and says “To be announced”; the game is not yet available. Check the Steam listing for the current store status. The 2027 window comes from Gematsu’s announcement coverage, not a dated Steam release listing.
