Its strongest appeal is the unusual feline perspective and richly atmospheric setting; its more limited movement and basic puzzles may leave players looking for deep mechanics or open-ended platforming wanting more.

What do the reviews say about Stray?
The critical consensus emphasizes the game’s distinctive cat perspective, memorable setting, and appealing exploration. The experience gets much of its character from noticing and interacting with the environment as a cat rather than from a large set of complex systems.
That focus has a trade-off: selected reviews on Metacritic praise the atmosphere and variety but also criticize constrained platforming, tedious stealth, and basic puzzles. Those excerpts are not a systematic survey of every review, but they point to the key question for prospective players: whether the setting and point of view matter more to you than precise, freely controlled movement or mechanically demanding challenges.

- In addition, the physical version includes six full-color art cards
Should you buy or play Stray?
Choose Stray if its cat-centered perspective, environmental exploration, and neon cybercity are the draw. Go in expecting a focused adventure rather than a deep platformer or a game with extensive mechanical systems. The concept is unusual, but whether the experience works for you depends on enjoying its atmosphere and exploration more than demanding broad movement freedom or elaborate puzzles.
