If viewers can’t hear game or video audio in a Streamlabs Mobile YouTube stream, first identify which sound is missing: the phone’s playback, your microphone, or alert sounds. On Android, add an Internal Audio source in Streamlabs. On iPhone or iPad, disconnect headphones and let the phone’s speakers play loudly enough for its microphone to pick up. These are different capture paths, so a working microphone does not prove game audio is reaching the stream.
First, identify which sound is missing
Check the stream or its YouTube replay and distinguish among these sources:
- Game or video audio: sounds from content playing on the phone.
- Your voice: sound picked up by the phone’s microphone or an attached mic.
- Alerts: sounds associated with Streamlabs alert events.
Test the source that is actually missing. Changing microphone settings will not necessarily restore internal game audio, and adding internal audio will not unmute your voice.
Fix game or video audio on iPhone or iPad
Test speaker playback without headphones
- Disconnect wired and Bluetooth headphones.
- Play the game or video with the phone’s speakers turned up to a reasonable level.
- Make a short test stream or recording and check whether the playback is audible.
Streamlabs’ iOS guidance describes this as sound from the phone speakers being picked up by the phone microphone; it is not the Android-style Internal Audio source. Because the microphone is listening acoustically, it may also pick up room noise. Check the available audio controls
In Streamlabs, look under Streaming Settings > Audio Settings and Screen Capture Settings for audio source or volume controls. Streamlabs’ documentation lists screen-capture audio controls, including volume, and audio controls such as sample rate, volume, and external audio channels. The exact labels can vary by app version. Fix game or video audio on Android
Add an Internal Audio source
- Open Streamlabs Mobile’s Main Menu > Streaming Settings > Audio Settings.
- Add an Internal Audio source.
- Start the game or screen-capture session using the expected source, then make a short test stream or recording.
- Check the test on YouTube to confirm the game or video audio is present.
Streamlabs identifies Internal Audio as the Android path for capturing game sound. Its support instructions are available in the mobile audio settings article and Mobile Streaming FAQ.

Test without headphones if audio is still missing
Disconnect headphones and repeat the test. Streamlabs recommends this for mobile-game streaming. Its FAQ specifically describes an Android limitation involving internal audio for alert sounds in the headphone scenario it discusses; that statement should not be read as proof that every Android device, game, or app version loses all internal audio whenever headphones are connected. Test your own setup rather than assuming the cause.
If viewers cannot hear your voice
- Check Streamlabs’ microphone mute control and unmute it if needed.
- Disconnect Bluetooth headphones or other Bluetooth audio accessories temporarily.
- Test with the phone’s built-in microphone.
- If the built-in mic works, reconnect one accessory at a time and test again.

If only alert sounds are missing
Check that the alert sound file uses a format Streamlabs lists for your operating system:

Then inspect the alert configuration to make sure the alert is set to appear or play on the stream as intended. An alert file and the game’s internal audio are separate sources; changing the alert file will not by itself restore game sound.

Tell an audio problem apart from a YouTube go-live problem
If Streamlabs says the stream is live but YouTube does not show a broadcast, or event creation fails, troubleshoot the go-live process separately from audio capture. Streamlabs’ issue notice, updated September 3, 2026, marks previously reported YouTube Mobile go-live problems resolved after updates. It is not an audio fix. See the YouTube go-live issue notice.
