Then, if your attempt matches a problem Streamlabs has documented, try streaming horizontally or choose an existing broadcast with “Active event” instead of creating a new one. If the app says you are live but YouTube shows no stream, check Disconnect Protection—the symptom points to a different issue.
Start with the symptom
Work out which of these situations you have before changing settings. Streamlabs’ guidance describes both a broadcast that never goes live and a separate “false live” case where the app appears live but YouTube receives no stream.
- It remains on “Connecting” or never starts: check YouTube channel activation first, then try the event and orientation workarounds below.
- Streamlabs shows a live timer, FPS or bitrate, or a Stop control, but YouTube has no live stream: check Disconnect Protection.
- You see a specific settings or authorization error: use the matching error guidance below rather than assuming every connection failure has the same cause.
Check that YouTube allows your channel to go live
For a channel’s first live stream, Streamlabs’ mobile guide says YouTube requires phone verification and a 24-hour setup period. Repeatedly retrying in Streamlabs will not bypass that activation period. If the app reports “Invalid Credentials,” Streamlabs’ FAQ says the channel may not be enabled for live streaming; verify the channel’s eligibility, allow the setup period if this is the first time, then try again. Try the workarounds for Streamlabs’ documented YouTube issue
In a support notice dated September 3, 2026, Streamlabs described YouTube mobile issues that included duplicate broadcasts when creating a new broadcast, broadcasts that never go live despite the device appearing to be live, and an error related to creating RTMP when streaming vertically. Streamlabs said updates pushed over the preceding months should have resolved the issue and directed users who still encounter it to support. It documented these workarounds:

- Switch to horizontal orientation. If you are trying to stream vertically, rotate the phone and try a horizontal stream. This is a workaround for the issue Streamlabs described, not a guaranteed fix for every connection problem.
- Use an existing broadcast. If you have a suitable scheduled or existing YouTube broadcast, select “Active event” rather than “Create event.” Streamlabs’ notice describes this as joining an existing broadcast created from the relevant scheduled broadcast.
The notice does not identify specific affected app versions, devices, operating systems, or YouTube account types, so the issue should not be assumed to affect every Streamlabs Mobile user. Read Streamlabs’ September 3, 2026 notice for its description and current support direction.
If Streamlabs looks live but YouTube does not
This is different from an app that remains on “Connecting.” Streamlabs says Disconnect Protection can leave the mobile app appearing live—showing a timer, FPS or bitrate, or a Stop control—when it has not successfully connected to Streamlabs’ servers and YouTube has no stream. Streamlabs lists two options: turn off Disconnect Protection or enable Multistream on Streamlabs.com. See its guidance on the app appearing live when the platform is not.

Review the relevant app settings and retry
Streamlabs’ mobile guide points to Streaming Settings for video, audio, camera, platform, and advanced settings. Close open apps before retrying, as the guide recommends. If your stream uses the camera or microphone, check that Streamlabs has the necessary permissions. Change only the setting relevant to the symptom, then try again; changing several things at once makes it harder to tell what mattered. The guide does not establish a particular bitrate or resolution as a fix for this YouTube connection issue.

When to contact Streamlabs support
If channel activation is complete and the workaround matching your situation does not help, submit a Streamlabs support ticket, as its current issue notice requests. Include details that help distinguish the failure:

- Phone model, operating system, and Streamlabs app version.
- Whether the channel is enabled for YouTube live streaming.
- Whether you streamed vertically or horizontally, and whether you chose “Create event” or “Active event.”
- The exact error text, if any.
- Whether Streamlabs stayed on “Connecting,” appeared live while YouTube showed nothing, or YouTube showed a stream.
