If your YouTube stream ends as soon as your phone locks while using Streamlabs Mobile, keep the phone unlocked for the broadcast. Streamlabs’ guidance is explicit: “If your device locks, the stream will end.” The material available does not establish a Streamlabs setting that keeps screen sharing alive after the device locks.
Keep your phone awake while streaming
For a Streamlabs Mobile screen-share broadcast, prevent the display from locking and leave the device unlocked until you end the stream. Streamlabs Support’s mobile gameplay guide, updated September 30, 2026, says: “Stay unlocked while live: If your device locks, the stream will end.”
The source does not identify a Streamlabs control that overrides this behavior. It also does not specify a universal screen-awake setting or exact menu path, which can vary by phone and operating-system version. Use your device’s display or screen-timeout controls to avoid automatic locking, and keep the screen awake for the whole broadcast.
Why screen capture can stop when the phone locks
Streamlabs explains that screen capture puts its app in the background and leaves it effectively suspended. Its support FAQ says that, on iOS, it disables widgets during screen broadcasting to reduce the risk of the operating system killing the app. This helps explain why a screen-share stream can be vulnerable when the device locks, but it is not a device-by-device explanation and should not be generalized to every phone, operating system, or camera stream.

If the stream stops while the phone is still unlocked
A stream that stops without the screen locking may have a different cause. Streamlabs suggests closing other apps to reduce lag or crashes and turning on Do Not Disturb to avoid interruptions. These are general stream-hygiene suggestions, not confirmed fixes for a lock-triggered stop. See its mobile streaming guidance.
- Close other apps: This may reduce competing resource use, lag, or crashes.
- Use Do Not Disturb: This may reduce interruptions during the broadcast.
- Do not treat Network Boost as a lock fix: Streamlabs describes Network Boost as using multiple internet connections to support connection reliability; it does not claim to keep screen capture running after the phone locks. See Streamlabs’ explanation.
Check YouTube eligibility only if you cannot start
YouTube’s mobile live eligibility requirements are separate from a stream ending precisely when the screen locks. Current YouTube Help guidance, surfaced in October 2026, requires a verified channel, live streaming enabled, no live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days, at least 50 subscribers, and a compatible device. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Consult YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements if you cannot start a mobile stream. These requirements do not explain a stream that begins successfully and ends at the moment the phone locks.

When to consider a different workflow
If keeping the phone unlocked is not workable, investigate another streaming method rather than assuming a specific encoder setup will solve the Streamlabs Mobile lock symptom. YouTube documents mobile, webcam, encoder, and console methods as distinct ways to go live; it does not establish any particular encoder configuration as a verified fix for this issue.
