Streamlabs Mobile YouTube Audio Out of Sync: How to Fix It

Find out whether Streamlabs Mobile audio is mismatched with video or the whole YouTube stream is delayed, then follow the right checks.

First identify which problem you have: audio/video sync means the sound does not match the picture; stream latency means viewers see the whole live event late. They need different checks. Start with the phone’s microphone and audio input, then compare a test broadcast’s output with what viewers hear on YouTube. Changing YouTube’s latency setting may affect delivery delay and buffering, but it is not documented as a fix for lip-sync mismatch.

Work out what “out of sync” means

Before changing settings, note what you actually observe. YouTube defines stream latency as the time between an encoder or camera capturing an event and that event appearing in the stream. That is different from a mismatch between speech or actions and their corresponding picture. YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance describes latency; Streamlabs also explains that delay accumulates along the path from the broadcaster’s app through ingest, transcoding, CDN delivery, and viewer buffering in its Mobile Streaming FAQ.

  • Picture and sound do not match: someone’s lips or an in-game action appear before or after the related audio.
  • The whole event arrives late: video and sound match each other, but viewers see the event after it happens.
  • Audio is missing or intermittent: check mute, input selection, and the microphone path.
  • Only one viewer has trouble: compare another device and network before changing the broadcast setup.

Also note whether a lip-sync mismatch stays roughly constant or grows during the broadcast. These observations help locate the problem; they do not identify a single universal correction.

Check Streamlabs Mobile’s microphone input

  1. Check mute and input selection. In Streamlabs Mobile, confirm that the microphone is not muted and that the intended built-in or external input is selected or being used as the default.
  2. Make a brief test with the phone’s built-in microphone. Keep the scene and other conditions the same. If the timing improves, the external input or its connection is worth investigating.
  3. If you use Bluetooth, repeat without it. Streamlabs’ FAQ notes known issues with Bluetooth microphones and headphones. Removing Bluetooth for a comparison is a diagnostic step, not a guarantee that every other microphone will work.
  4. If you use a wired microphone, check the connection and compatibility. Streamlabs says 3.5 mm microphones should work, but that does not establish compatibility for every phone, adapter, or microphone.

Buying a replacement microphone is not the first step. Compare the built-in mic against your current input before deciding that hardware is the cause.

Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

Review mobile audio settings one at a time

Streamlabs’ mobile app guide lists audio settings including sample rate, volume, and external audio channels; its mobile-game guidance also lists Bluetooth input and sample rate. The guidance does not establish a universal sync-offset value or a setting that corrects every mobile lip-sync problem.

  1. Record the current audio settings before changing anything.
  2. Change only one relevant setting at a time, such as the selected input or sample rate.
  3. Repeat the same short test after each change and compare the result.
  4. Restore the original setting if the test gets worse or makes no difference.

Avoid copying a desktop audio-offset or render-delay value into the phone app: the reviewed Streamlabs Mobile guidance does not establish those desktop controls as Mobile settings.

Apple EarPods Headphones with USB-C Plug, Wired Ear Buds with Built-in Remote to Control Music, Phone Calls, and Volume
  • SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
  • HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
  • BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

Use a short test to locate where the problem starts

  1. Make a short private or unlisted broadcast with the same phone, scene, microphone, and connection you normally use.
  2. Check the live preview and available stream-health information while it runs. Streamlabs recommends reducing background load in its mobile guide, and YouTube recommends testing streams and monitoring quality in its live latency guidance.
  3. Watch the replay on another device. If possible, use a different network as well. Compare whether the sound and picture are mismatched there, whether the entire stream is merely late, and whether the issue affects one viewer or more.
  4. Use the comparison to choose the next check: an unhealthy or mismatched outgoing feed points back toward the app, input, or device path; healthy output with a problem limited to YouTube playback points toward delivery, network, or player conditions.

If the problem appears in the outgoing feed

Recheck the intended microphone and mute state, then repeat the built-in-versus-external comparison. Close unnecessary apps to reduce background load, and update Streamlabs before testing again. If the mismatch remains, note the phone model, operating-system version, Streamlabs version, connection type, microphone setup, and whether the offset stays constant or drifts. Those details give Streamlabs support useful context; the symptom alone cannot establish the cause.

If the outgoing feed is healthy but YouTube playback is not

Review YouTube Live stream health and any reported errors, then compare a viewer on another device or network. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance recommends inspecting encoder output and stream health; if output is healthy, test outbound connectivity. Network congestion and player buffering can delay delivery, as described in YouTube’s latency guidance.

YouTube’s latency options address capture-to-viewer delay and have buffering trade-offs. They are not documented as a lip-sync adjustment, so do not use a lower-latency option as a substitute for diagnosing a picture-and-sound mismatch.
